I'll be using the reverse-cut SignGold for the first time later today and I was wondering if there are any tricks or problems that I should know about. I cut and weeded it last night and found that it's nothing like the regular stuff. Much thicker with a different type of adhesive. Anybody have any experience with it? Thanks.

Hi Mike. It just so happens that I,too, had a window job today using the reverse cut SignGold. One problem that I ran into was when I cut and weeded the stuff, I should have increased the down pressure of the blade because in some spots it didn't cut all the way through the adhesive layer. I had to recut a few areas by hand. I got to the jobsite and the customer and his wife were there to watch me work(oh yay!), but I sort of figured that would happen, so it reflected in my price =] . After thoroughly cleaning the window with BonAmi cake, I applied the layer of SignGold dry. I removed the masking off the first piece, and as I did, the gold started to lift and seperate from the adhesive layer. I almost started to freak, but instead, I looked over at the customer and smiled. "I'll be back in about an hour or so" I said, and quickly drove back to my shop to cut another piece. This time I increased the down pressure on my Summa D60 and it weeded like buttah. I returned and layed down the new piece, wetted down the masking tape with RapidTac(thanx Roger), and the mask came off like buttah. I backed it all up with black vinyl, and the customer, his wife and I all stood back and ooooh'd and aaaah'd and what a fine job I did. I handed over the bill and was paid in cash(love it!). Other than the trip back to the shop, the job went fine. So, Mike, if that is your real name, I hope your window job goes as well as mine did. Your best friend, Mike.

Greg, the stuff really looks great on glass. After a couple more times using it, it'll be a piece of cake. I forgot to add that the customer, an attorney, now wants the window lettering at his other office to be replaced with SignGold. He had someone else do them last year with gold metallic vinyl. Cool.

No affence Rick, but when I hear someone(anyone) say "applied it wet and it wouldn't dry"
Well I just have to put on my "instructors hat on". First, if you used "soap&water" then I understand what you mean, if however you used Rapid Tac(application fluid) and a cheap paper towell (and did NOT clean with anything else)then something is DEFINATELY missing from the equasion.
Call me next time you wish to apply "Sign Gold" and I will(cheerfully)go thru the whole 9 yards(takes 2 minutes tops)with you !!
Then you will be one of those guys who says "wet app./not a problem".
Roger(excuse my spellin)
