"Oh where Oh where, has the "Baby Doll" banner gone?
BUMMER!!!!!
Just traced the banner to Redmon, Wa. It was shipped by me from Port Angeles on June 18 and arrived in Redmon on the 19th...where it seems to be hiding! Rascally banner!!!
UPS!!!....they always play this game when it is important to keep it moving...UPS is traking it down now, and as soon as they find it they will deliver it to Greg in Spokane.
Sorry Coop, I hope this isn't a hassle for the rest of you wanting to sign her.
Oh-well....these things happen I reckon, but I didn't expect this...usually UPS in very prompt about deliveries.
I will keep you advised.

Well I've waited this long I guess another day or so won't kill me off! But much longer than that and I may have to send out the "Baby-Doll" police to check and make sure you just didn't decide to hang the work of art on your shop wall! I know you'd never do such a thing but it sure is a temptation! I'll keep everyone posted when it gets into my hands.

Just to keep everyone posted, so far the banner has not shown up here via UPS as of today. My shop is on the border of UPS sections and sometimes my shipments get split between drivers so I will hang aroung till after lunch for driver # 2 to show up.

Well.... The afternoon UPS driver was just here with no sign of "Baby Doll". I guess Jackson better start yelling at UPS to get them to find it. It's funny how depressing it can be waiting for something!

I was wondering why it is in Redmond. Brian (in Redmond) had it after me. Then didn't he send it to you Jackson? Then I thought it was going to Spokane? If you give me the tracking number I can try to find it. I go to Redmond all the time.

Hi All....Cheryl, to answer your question. I don't know why it went back to Redmond. That was the last activity on it according to UPS. I have a tracer out on it now. They said it is still in Redmond??? But can't seem to find it. They said it may take from 8 days to 2 weeks.
The tracking number is: 1Z940X260312152158
If you are close Cheryl, maybe you can stop by and light a fire under thier asses!!! I can only YELL at them over the phone...and they don't really seem to care...I'm just another part of the BORG collective...
Thanks for your help and patience, everyone. I am past "Bummed", now I am getting "PISSED"!!!!!!!!!

It would be my guess that the main UPS distribution center is in Redmond. I had a gal from UPS call me yesterday afternoon call me to make sure that I hadn't really gotten it! She wanted to make sure it wasn't sitting in my shipping/recieving dept. (I guess she has never been to MY shop!) I guaranteed her that it wasn't in that dept. 'cause I don't have a shipping dept.! I also had to all but swear on a bible that I didn't get it but hadn't signed for it! I explained to her what was in this banner in detail since she wanted me to contact the "shipper" to maybe just get a replacement sent! LOL

Just a suggestion here on this banner. Eventually it will show up, I think maybe it would be wise to put some insurance on the "Baby Doll." Usually when there is insurance on something, they seem to be found sooner. Also is it in it's original box? Because when it came thru here, that box looked like it was gettin on it's last leg. Well lets all hope it shows up soon, and she can get back on her trail.

Well I just got off of the Phone with UPS, and can't get an answer either!
Monte says he has run into a situation like this before, where there were two shipping labels on the package, and it "bounced" back and forth. Is that possible here?
Anyone who has had the banner please post your tracking # here, and I'll go visit the local office ,see if maybe a face to face meeting might get me closer than a phone call. After all I can just stay there until somebody gets me an answer, sooner or later they will want rid of me!
If anyone has any ideas please let me know!

Brother Coop, I see Jackson, yourself and Ms Cheryl has offered to go and speak to "someone at the UPS Center." I have an idea. I know Cheryl is less than an hour away. And I forget we have a brother in Redmond, not sure if its the mobile dude or Brian. Maybe they could find out whos in charge, since it's in their city, and do a double check. Inform them it's a Traveling letterhead Banner" aka: "the Baby Doll" it is being watched and has been followed around the globe since it's departure in Oaklahoma, there are even photos of it on different web sites. We know it's there somewhere. Who's in charge? Thats who I want to speak to. he can spread in a memo real quick or get on the loud speaker, Someone has seen it. Poor Baby Doll, she's probably been abused and thrown as a rag drop cloth to change oil under one of them big ole step vans, or stepped on like a floor mat in some nasty smelling bathroom. Oh Yes I am real close to the UPS distribution center and have been there to pick up a few times. I would be happy to swing over and do what I can but that place is like a black hole and to go down there and start in with some one at the counter is not going to do much good. Its one huge wharehouse with endless packages. I am ready for action if you need me though...

OK, I just spent the last 2 hours at the local UPS center, at least the lady there was trying to be helpful.
The last actual PHYSICAL scan of the package was in Port Angeles. Jackson, she suggested you go down to the UPS center there, and ask them to check "overgoods". The scans that show it in Redmond are LOGICAL scans, (meaning that's where it is SUPPOSED to be).
If not there, then maybe "overgoods" in Redmond. But, since it is such a huge distribution center, they probably will not check "overgoods" for you (while you wait). You will most likely have to leave a note and they will check for you overnight (if you're lucky). If you get time Brian maybe you can check it out.
The package may even be in Spokane with no label on it. Greg if you can check with your local center maybe we'll get lucky there. Remember, the key word here seems to be "overgoods".
One thing we might try is to "stuff" the e-mail box at the UPS customer service site. If they got a hundred or so e-mails, maybe they would get tired of it and actually find the package! customer.service@ups.com Subject: package #1Z940X260312152158
I hope we can find her soon, it feels like "Baby-Doll" has been abducted, and I'm not getting much done other than trying to track her down.

OK - time to get nasty - everyone e-mail customer.service@ups.com Include the tracking # as your subject line. If we get 4,000 people to e-mail, I bet we'll get some action! I leave the wording of the message up to you! Bomba-Dear Here goes . . . . my message: PLEASE find this package. This package belongs to a group of sign artists, the Letterheads, with membership over 4,000 worldwide. The package holds the "Baby Doll Banner" - a project travelling across the United States with stops at all Sign shops. Each sign artist has personally signed the banner with their artwork & fine craftmanship. The banner is scheduled to ultimately be sold at an auction to benefit others. This banner is lost in the UPS system since June 19th. One UPS representative suggested we start over. Since each signature is unique and handcrafted, what has been already signed can never be duplicated again. I implore you to find this banner now - not in 2 weeks as quoted by UPS. After all, if one of our sign shops were contracted to paint your UPS logo on a fleet of trucks, what would be your response if we "lost the trucks and it will be at least 2 weeks before we can find them"? Hey, I've been watching this thread for a little while and have had the same problems with UPS. I had sent some original freehand pen and ink artwork and reference material to one of my screenprint houses for a T-shirt design and UPS lost the original.....funny thing is, I sent it in a round tube and what they received was a flat without my original artwork, just the reference material. Tracking is still in progress, that was the first of May and they still haven't found the original thus far. Luckily I had copied the origional and had sent that at a later date. I certainly hope the "Baby Doll" is found. Good luck!!!

Jessica Now - if everyone will e-mail them, maybe they'll get the message & start doing something about it before 8 days. Inundating them is our best bet. And I mean everyone - even the Aussie's, Canadians, Europeans. It doesn't matter that this banner is just being signed around the US - it's still a part of our organization. We can make a very loud statement if everyone chimes in. One might mention that there are other services we can all use in the future - FedEx, Airborne, and of course, Snail Mail. With over 4,000 members possibly threateneing never to use UPS, we just might get the "Baby Doll" back real soon! By the way, whoever shipped it should get full credit for shipping costs from UPS - don't forget to put in your claim. Add a few bucks for "undue stress" - he he. e-mail customer.service@ups.com Bomba-Dear

Just talked with a dear friend who has been with UPS for 26 yrs. He said that if we get the thing back into circulation to follow the instructions he gives his customers. Always put an additional label with shipping and return addresses on the INSIDE of the package. That way if the label comes off, they can look inside. He added that he advises to always spend a few extra pennies on NEW containers and labels. We all know how much these things get bounced around before we receive them.

I stopped at UPS on my way home to check in to the overgoods idea. The clerk said she would have someone (it was quite busy there @ 5:00) on the night shift check it out and if it was there it would be on my door step a.s.a.p. in the morning.

I talked to our local UPS, told her my problem, (HA! as if they REALLY care) I told her it was a VERY important piece and I would like it found. I asked about "Overgoods"...blank look! NO, we don't have any. Next step was into the office....told the manager my tale of woe...he said he would get a hold of his friend in Redmond...maybe we can go in the back door...Ha ha!!
I am now waiting for a phone call from him...hopefully tomorrow...meanwhile...I do appreciate everyone's help.
I REALLY feel bad about this whole thing...and I feel somewhat responsible since it was lost on "My Watch".
I just may not use UPS again....there are other carriers for packages...I always thought they were really organized...but Alas, I am finding just the opposite!
This SUCKS!!!!
By the way...the description of the carton. 4"x4"x4"x4" x 48" brown cardboard box. Not really beat up at all...I retaped both ends just to be safe.

Jackson, don't feel bad about this. This is not anyone's fault directly. It just happens. The course of time will straighten things out, or not. If it gets lost forever, then we just start another banner, no big deal. Please don't persecute yourself over this. It takes something like this to get everybody fired up and really into solving the mystery! Cheer up! Lets go have a beer. ------------------------ I e-mailed UPS also, got the same exact response as most of you got. Do you think this is just an automated reply some computer is answering and shooting back out?
This reminds me of the ending of Raiders Of The Lost Ark where the container with the ark in it is stored in a warehouse with a billion surplus government items in it.
We will just have to wait and hope they can find the package in a week like they say.
If you all have been putting your biz cards in with the banner, the package may get opened eventually, and someone will get a call......maybe. Lets hope!

Jackson~ Have you contacted the shipper from which you shipped the banner from and have they themselves done any calling to UPS to help find this package?
Here's why I ask... My mother-out-law has a UPS account and ships out daily. She has had many many packages up and disappear in the UPS Twilight zone. When this happens she gets on the phone to poor Michele in the Roseville Hub and raises holy hell until Michele FINDS the package. She seems to get reaction and results from being a "UPS Daily Shipper" (vs. being "just a customer") ....and she probably gets results because she can be a hot headed Porta-Wap that just will not take "No" or "sorry" for an answer.
Here's my point- ask the Shipper from which you shipped the banner from to get on the horn to thier "Michele" that they call when their packages get lost and see what answers they get.
One thing to keep in mind... when my mother-out-law calls Michele, she usually starts with "FedEx is looking BETTER EVERY day..." and then goes on from there with her package drama. <><><><><><><>
I went back through all the Banner posts and copied and pasted ALL the tracking numbers posted on this BB to date, to see if in fact there was two numbers on the banner box, and to see if that is what is in fact confusing the UPS scanners, but it all came up with a big nothing... in fact the most recent tracking number posted here came up with "Unable to find". (Well Duh!!!! )
Here's a suggestion: When shipping the banner ship "3-day Select". It's the next step up from Ground and when you pay the extra $2 to get the little Orange sticker on the box UPS tends to pay a little more attention to the package. Ground to them seems to mean: "Kick the box to door step, take FOREVER to get it there, and lose it for ****s and giggles ...which will teach them to be cheap!" I just KNOW this is what UPS thinks while handling those Ground shipments.
The not a UPS fan side of the Moon (is it obvious? )
