Does anyone use the XpressScreen printing system, or know someone who does? We are getting ready to purchase one, and would love some feeback on one.

Thanks,
Dan

This may be totally bum information, so deal with it accordingly.

I saw a fast screenprinting system at Las Vegas and actually thought about buying it for the store. They were demonstrating burning instant screens for printing on tee shirts.

I happened to be standing with a manufacturer's rep whose opinion I respect. I told him that the rig looked like a good way to knock out large quantities of identical 18x24 traffic signs on aluminum. The rep launched into a technical explanation of why that product was not a good choice for aluminum. It had something to do with the mesh of the screen and the viscosity of the ink required for outdoor signs.

I'm not a printer so that is all I can tell you, except to say, be sure the equipment will burn whatever mesh screen you need for what you want to print.

Maybe one of the screenprinters here can give a better explanation. Vic G

I had a chance to check it out at the BigShow in Charlotte earlier this year. For short, simple t-shirt runs it looks very promising. I wouldn't want to use it for production work though.

The screen material looked like a 110 mesh. While it is fine for t-shirts, it is way too coarse for metal signs. You should use no less than a 260 mesh for that. I use a 355.

Also, the mesh was "reasonably" tight when put into the special frame. If you got 10 neutons out of it, I think you'd be lucky. Probably the biggest problem in screen printing is improperly tensioned screens.

The XpressScreen printing system works well enough for what I would consider to be simple work. But, I wouldn't want to use it if I intended to do full-color work.

Thanks guys!

In the year 2000, we printed about 90,000
T-shirts. Most of our stuff is team oriented
stuff, so our average order is about 17 pieces.

The Xpress seems to be the right equipment
for us.

I appreciate the feedback. If we take the plunge, I'll report back the results.

Thanks,

Dan
