I'm making 2 sign new faces to cover an old sign using SignGold on Black aluminum. The customer wants a matte background. Should I paint a matte black or cover with a matte black vinyl?

The quick answer is, what are you good at? There's nothing wrong with paint if you have the right equipment. If it is not too big I would vinyl it because it is faster and cleaner.
The other answer is, have you considered Alliance or Wrisco metal? The vendor drops it on your doorstep already anodized or painted. That would be my true first choice. Vic G

try an auto paint jobber in your area,they should have a universal flattening agent you could add to your lettering enamel,or ask em for a product by the marhyde corporation called bumper black,it comes in quarts and has a semi gloss finish
