Just got a call back on the job that I posted about on here earlier, (pricing large quantity decals) the guy picked lowest of the three tier pricing system I offered. I'm making 48 vinyl decals for a trucking company, Well, the price I quoted was without tax and would like to know should I have quoted with the tax or without? How do you guys do it? I have to meet with the owner's son tomorrow to match the copy color to his trailers and will mention the price was without tax so he knows that before I buy the vinyl for the job.
Whadaya think?
Thanks! Tony B

I quote all mine as "+ tax" and if they want to know the total I figure it then otherwise I add it to the 50% due on complition.
Some companies are tax exempt so check with them first.

The general accepted way to do this which covers all situations, is,, plus applicable taxes. It works well and is adjustable to all situations.. bronzeo

Quotes should always be given as "price + tax".
If you include the tax in the quote, and give only a total price, someone will beat your price by the amount of the tax.
Also, when you say "plus tax", this gives the customer the chance to tell you they are tax exempt. You can get their tax exempt number before you make out the invoice.

Without. I lost a job one time because they thought my price was without tax. (I listed it as with tax) Remember to put + tax somewhere on the bottom tho.
