Just purchased a new Sony 53 inch High Definition High Scan Digital TV with a DVD player. I'm a big TV & movie watcher, hell this is one of the greatest things invented for home entertainment. The picture quality is out of this world with over a million pixels a sq. inch, I think that's the correct measurement. Watching a DVD. God I'm in love with this TV & I can divide the screen into 12 different channels at once. TV a freak a mondo.Aaaaaaa Who? Just wanting everyone's thoughts on this new technology well not brand new technology but I just got it. The DVD's are great you can Zoom X2 & X4 really brings it in.I've watched DVD's on my laptop but not TV BIG DIFFERENCE.

Alan - One of our clients sells really high end entertainment centers. In one of his display rooms, the controller looks like an oversize palm pilot. He pushes a button. The screen rises up out of a cabinet. The lights dim down like in a movie theater. Crisp stereo sound fills the room and the brightest projector I have ever seen throws this incredibly detailed image on the screen.
Sounds like just the thing for you, and it is all yours for a mere $50,000 or so.
For the folks who really get into TV, there are exciting times ahead as the prices for the advanced technology starts to fall.Personally I'm yearning for a big flat screen computer monitor, and the prices are just about there.
Have fun with your new TV. It sounds like a nice one. Vic G

In our last home, we had a home theatre system with 7 remote controls. I couldn't even turn on the stinkin tv by itself! I insisted to my hubby that when we move, I want an on and off button for the tv. PERIOD. And I got it. But we lost the cool sound effects. Oh well. At least I can watch tv now!
What you have sounds pretty cool, but I don't even know what half the features are that you speak of. And I won't show my husband your post. I refuse more remote controls in this house! LOL!

Do you have digital satellite on your continent? We got it a few months ago here (to replace our 10 year old analogue satellite)and it is easily the best quality I can imagine. Its just like looking at a "live" dvd.

I love downloading a song from Napster in about 15 seconds. Before someone reads this & complains about the Copyright debate? At the moment it's legal in the US and that's it.If you don't like it write your senator don't bitch at me.I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT.

Alan I'm really curious about your satellite internet connection... which system do you have and how expensive is it? Are you satisfied with the service? I'd do nearly anything to get faster than 26,400 KBS that I get with my old phone lines. LE

I have a Elite Pioneer VSX-1 home theater system with enough power to light a small town. It has Klipsh fronts, Infinity center and Optimus rears and a Velodyne sub. It can compete with the thumpers that pass my home.....

Lady, I have Comcast@home,I'm very pleased I just checked the bandwidth speed was... 1393,900 kbps.Plus it being a cable modem it is very consistent.I use to have a phone modem so I do remember how irritating it is to sit & wait.Recently a friend send several of us (friends) a file the ones with phone modems took about 35 minutes to download it took me 14 seconds.I do love it,at my shop I still have a regular phone modem so it makes looking forward to getting on my home PC a pleasure.
