Waaaaaa Whoooooo! I can't wait to see the UPS truck for once... they come and go everyday, but never bring me good stuff. Guess it would help if I ordered something now and then, eh?
BTW, Did you send it to my Pony Express address?

Steff..Yes on the Pony Express addy. Have a good time and in case you missed the other post ...If you keep your shipping distance under 500 miles the normal average shipping cost should be around $8.00 ( not bad for a good time eh)? enjoy!
------------------ Monte Jumper SIGNLanguage/Norman.Okla.
Oklahoma is 4 UPS zones away from me, so it will be max 5 business days of traveling for the banner from Monte to me... I should get it June 1st.
A, (and all interested) here's my schedule: Friday & Saturday I have a wedding to decorate (those balloons creations I do) and to attend.
The banner signing party will be Sunday June 3rd which will put the ship out date at June 6th. (earlier if it's all dry sooner) Based on the $8.00 amount Monte paid to ship it UPS Ground the banner weighs in at about 20-25 pounds inside the box. Last I heard the measurements of the banner were 2' x 16'
When I ship it to Cisco it will take one day to get to him (two tops, if it has to go through the UPS Oakland Hub- things get lost there or slip into the slow motion twilight zone for some reason! But then, it IS Oakland! )
When I ship it I will post the Tracking ID # so you all can go to UPS.com and watch it's progress... which isn't a bad idea for all of us to do. The ID# is on the sticker that also has the mailing address on it that the shippers print out for you. Get that number when you ship, and post it for all the Letterheads here that are having an axiety attack about when it's gonna get here or there... (now, "IF it were me", a little clairification... I'm NOT talking about you Adreinne: refering to the anxiety attack. I'm going nuts myself with anticipation wondering where it is in it's travels... and I know I'm NOT the only one, so I posted that remark in light humor.)
Ok, I gotta get my stuff moved into it's nooks and crannies in my new shop and go shopping for Burgers and Buns for the party/meet...oh yeah and I gotta send out the official invite.
Anyone reading this within my area- you are most welcome to come play. E-mail me for details on how to find me and the banner at my shop here.
June 3rd, anytime AFTER 10am til whenever we wrap it up. I'll have Munchies and Burgers and whatever Beer that has volunteered to stay in my fridge. (I don't drink much- really- so I have a good stock left over from many parties.) For soda... I stock only Pepsi, but I will also have Sun Tea made fresh and chilled to quench your thrist. We have a Safeway just down the street for any last minute must have munchies or libations.
Bring the wife or the girlfriend (but don't bring both- LOL) and don't forget the kids! We have a Trampoline and a Hammock for outdoor fun and all those video games that they live for. We have bikes of all sizes and scooters, balls and hula hoops. Katie and Jackie also have a fair share of art supplies for their little creative minds to run free with. The street chalk on our huge driveway is usually a hit... especially for the adults after a few beers. Chalk outlines of bodies with "Joe was here" is usually the norm and good for a laugh or two.

nanner, nanner...yer jumpin to some conclusions here.
1- It cost me $13.75 to ship it to California ( th reason I suggested to keep it to 500 mile radius shipping is it won't exceed $8.00 that way)...and it will speed up the travel time.
2- The package is under 10 pounds (8 if I remember)
3-The banner is 4'x8' and is rolled to fit in a box approx 6"x6"x 50"
There ...thats nice and tidy Have a nice holiday,oh and the shipper said you. should see it on Tuesday next...let us know OK?

OK. snag #1, oh well it's nothing to get upset about! Stef have a great time, and if possible get some pics for us! I think the tracking # idea is great (wish I would have thought of that). I'll reformulate a new plan & let Cisco know where to send it next.
Remember this is supposed to be FUN! Stay tuned!

Ok, sounds great, one thing though, I have to be in southern Calif around the 3rd to the 7, So hope you don't mind if it sits for a day, (from what Stef says I might not get it till the 7th-or 8th anyway) before I can paint it. So maybe it won't be a problem.
But Coop let me know where you want it to go from here. I'm in the center of the state so I can send it ever is closest from Fresno. Ok California Letterheads who is close by that wants to sign this baby?

Just a suggestion. Why not get the banner to Addrienne after Stef's signing party so that it can make the meet in Cornwall. We can send it back with someone heading west or ship it to Cisco.

I was thinking the same thing...I don't think Cisco would mind waiting a bit so we could get a lot of sigs on this thing (would ya Cisco?) I was even thinking of a way to get Product Sign Supply in on this to transport it down quicker than UPS. (and free) Seeing as they deliver all over Sacramento area and Benicia everyday.....if Stef could get it down to a pick up point I bet they would'nt mind. Let me know soon, ok? A

Coop, you're the captain of the ship here, you make the corporate decision. It's cool with me. I can wait, long as they save me at a least a 4" x 6" spot, so I can put my little mark on it.

Thanks Cisco, (and a belated Happy Birthday to you)!
OK Stef what do you think? Can we get it to Adrienne in time? If there is anything I can do on this end to help, let me know. Or if there are any 'heads with a better plan, Speak Up!
I'm already having a great time with this project, getting to e-mail and "speak" with some letterheads that I might not otherwise have talked to.
P.S. The question has come up about using "sharpies" or vinyl. That is just fine with me! I only have 3 rules with the banner.
1.) keep it moving 2.) leave enough space for other 'heads to have their turn. 3.) Have FUN with it!

I thought this was to be a traveling banner. Coming from the central USA acrossed to the west and into Canada all the way to Upper Canada at Cornwall.
But now you like to send it back west again after the fact! What about those on the East side of the continent? Some of us here in the East Coast of Canada would like to sign it and send it down through the States as far as Florida to others. And let it travel back across to the Central. Am I missing out on this! On the travel plans of it?

Monte~ I was basing my guesses on the information provided here on the BB the last couple days... my conclusion now is that your shipper overcharged you.
For future shipments: The package measures 74" in its girth and length- that is NOT OS1 or Oversized for UPS standards according to their rates and service guide they gave me in Feburary. That package should have cost no more than $9.32 for Counter Service (and that's at 10 pounds and with the gas rate hike of 1.25%) to ship from Monte to me, the mark up shouldn't be THAT much. Grrrrr- UPS shippers grate me sometimes.
If the banner comes in early (which knowing UPS like I do after working with them daily since '94... I doubt it will, buuuutttt) if it comes in early I will call all the locals here and see if they can make it up or over sooner... I am here at the shop Thursday, but like I said: Friday & Saturday I have a wedding to decorate and be at. So it looks like Sunday holds for the party date.
I can always leave the shop open for the locals I know to be here for the locals I don't know (that want to come early) but I don't feel comfortable placing responsibility on others or assuming they will do things for me because I want them to. That's just me. I'll post here if anything changes... meaning if I get a volunteer to babysit the shop.
Benicia is within spitin' distance from here... A~ if you want to come get it Monday I can bring it to Placerville with me and you can get it from the Print Shop I work at! Call me and let me know~ then you'd have it time for your departure on Tuesday morning!
The thriving in chaos side of the Moon... heh heh heh
Coop~ Thank you for letting me a part of this banner. I will do my darndest to get it buttoned up and moving for you and the rest on down the line waiting for it.

Would this work? Stefenie send it Overnight UPS on the 5th to Adrienne. (send me the bill for the shipping costs). Adrienne should have it by 10:30 a.m. on the 6th, will that work with your travel plans?
Let me know.

My flight leaves 11:30 AM on the 6th, I'll be gone for the airport by 8:45 (southwest airlines, gotta get there early) But...that's WEDNESDAY!!! If you mean I'll get it by TUESDAY AM, yeah, that'll work!! Just gotta make sure it's dry before you send it. And if there is a slight doubt, protect the newly painted areas with the glossy slick side of vinyl backing paper. See if this will work.

Stephen..Don't get too concerned about the banner. It might get to Canada with Adrienne, but it will probably leave with her too and a lot of Canadians will have "signed" it.
I have an idea for a Canadian banner and am going to post it as a new topic.

maybe I should have said this earlier, but I had other things in my mind. Now I see it's turning into send it here, send it there. Ok...to eliminate alot of confusion, here's what I think. We're all busy with one thing or another. I know Stefenie is a busy woman, and if for some reason, Stef cannot make it on time for Adrienne's flight. Then lets stick to the original plan. To be honest with all, I really don't think it's right to impose on a sign supply to ship "our banner" at their cost, now if they want to sign it and do the shipping, fine, but...now if that delays it shipping time, then were back to square one. I know for a fact it would be unfair for Adrienne, who could miss her flight waiting for a banner that went thru different channels, she will still go empty handed, nothin is gained. Coop's original plan was to make a FUN THING out of this banner, let everyone get involved. Like Dave Draper said, (he went thru this before) it has to be planned, if not it will turn into total chaos! So my feelings is not to throw pressure on Stefenie to hurry up or to throw the pressure on Adrienne to get someone else involved, just let it take it's course, what will be will be...Cisco

I've read most of the posts, this banner idea is good, but it seems to be more trouble than it's worth. How about a cyber banner, how hard could that be for some of you creative computer cool cats. Just my 5 Cents (Canadian) I think that's 1 cent U.S. now. Hehehe If the idea's already been suggested, I just second the motion.
