Ok...since steve's one week hiatus on off topic (OT for those VIP's on the Q-T) posts has apparently expired, does this mean that we can all post ridiculous non sign related topics in an effort to prove how much smarter we are than the rest of the people on the board? And is it does, are there rules for this? must we toss bigger words than we normally use around here in print or can we use just plain common english? Should we post just once,or continue posting repeatedly, sometimes on the minute to let the uniformed know that we do indeed believe we are smarter than the rest? Can we act like adults,or ..because we're so smart...act like third graders who got spit at on the bus then pout and cry for mommy when we can't have our way? Should we actually (foriegn concept here) work during the day,or post psuedo-intellectual BS which has absolutely no effect on anyones life? These are things, that being younger than most here,i simply just don't know......but i'm sure someone here is wise enuff to fill me in and i've started counting the nancybaby emails already, gee another sleepless 2min and more folks who probably arent coming over to dinner....as they say, thats life.....the point of this post? maybe just to get people to read this than go back and re-read the OT(off topic--remember VIP/QT/** * *** * *** ** * secret letterhead code) political posts and stop and think....are you educating somebody with it or posting it just b/c you need attention and know that slapping something controversial up there will guarentee 35 replies, publicity and fifty pissed off people? Gee..i don't know..do you? Someone must with all the geniuses and nobel prize winners we have posting lately...jeeze i'm gonna shut up b4 i sound like a popmpous speaker at a letterhead meet.....so b4 i go..*** **** * ******** * *********** * *** * **** * *** ** * ***** ** * *** * ***** * * **** *** ** *** **** *** **** ***....and if that offends someone...welll...*** * *** * *** * * ******** * *** * ** **** * ** *

Geez, Gavin. Get a grip! TVs, radios and computers have switches and dials. Don't look, don't listen don't read! Either that or have your mommy switch it off for you. and if that offends someone...well...,

Well Gavin...I wish I could agree or disagree with you..Unfortunately, every time I make a comment about what should or should not be discussed here I get a load of crap dumped on me.
I agree with ya...But I just can't say it publicly. (shhhh this is between you and me..OK?..I can see no reason for the American political crap, that very few outside of the U.S. and only about 10% of those who live in the U.S. find interesting, to become the most controversial things that are posted on this very international BB).

Gavin, I don't read the OT posts. When I get on here it is for "sign stuff". Sometimes though, there is a thread title and I go in and read it because the title doesn't say OT. As soon as I see it's OT, I click my back button.
Granted, we talk to customers about everything under the sun, but this BB was intended for "sign stuff".
Now, I'm not going to complain because people post OT stuff, I just appreciate those who include OT in their titles. Saves me time when I'm checking out the BB between jobs.
So, to all those who put OT in the title of your OT posts, I thank you. To those who don't, (I'm sure it's just an oversite), please start putting OT in your title. Thank you.

The real problem as I see it is not the OT posts.
Over the years, we have celebrated births, marriages and good times together. There have also been times we have done all we can to comfort each other when personal tragety strikes. I know better than anyone how inspiring and comforting you have made me feel during my numerous heart crisis.
All the above had little to do with signs, but everything to do with our original dreams for Letterville. Anything that directly affects the family is not OT and should be talked about.
Somewhere along the line, some of you have forgotten that family comes first in Letterville. You have forgotten that Letterville has no geographical, political, religious or other borders. We come together here to discuss what unites us as signmakers and people. We are here to promote an idea of sharing our knowledge and spirit through a movement we call Letterheads.
I find myself very frustrated tonight. Dispite our repeated requests, some feel they have some special right to use our BB to carry out their personal battles with no regard to the rest of us. It has to stop!
I'm personally fed up with political discussions that have nothing to do with our trade or Letterheads. Is the fact that you are a democrate or republican more important than what brings us to Letterville? If your answer is yes, I suggest you find somewhere else to hang your hat. ------------------ Steve Shortreed 144 Hill St., E. Try one of the other boards. They are almost always "on topic", and if you have noticed very boring. I simply dont read posts i am not interested in, its that easy!

What amazes me is regarding people who complain about spam email resulting from this board. Yet.....those people like to toss OT posts on this board. To me, it's no different. The old "if you don't like it, don't read it" philosophy should apply to spam as well. To me it's very clear. "Letterhead & Pinhead talk"!! what is so hard about that? There should simply be another board added for "Chit chat & B.S.". Seems to me it would seperate the crap from the content.

My point exactly Steve...if everyone rereads what i said...its not the OT posts...its the immediate transition from adult to child that happens when some people read em...
Now Angry? no angry is when i get opiniated....what gets me is that people on this board want and for the most part should be treated like the industry leaders,or old masters.....and thats fine, should be that way...until crap like this starts....then what right do you have? Ever wonder why you dont see franchise shops post here? where are they? They arent all bad...maybe they come here looking to learn something and have some fun and read a few posts and say screw this place what a buncha flaming nutbags and then not come back? those 'leaving forever''s i believe, and i do think on occasion that does happen...not just franchise shops, other sign makers as well....or how many choose to read only b/c of it? Now was it mean spirited or personal? even though some are bound to take it that way,no....maybe i'm one of the only ones not afraid to un-politically correct and say something about it,god forbid reality intrude here...but when we can't even keep an OT post on the OT it was designed for...cmon....Pierre....smile when you say that... i attended the new orleans jazz festival many years ago and had dinner at K-paul's. the blackened redfish was incredible along with anythang along the lines of canjun cuisine i could poke into my face!!! LOL
then i went to a bar on bourbon street and decided to have myself a "dixie beer" i agree it sucked!
anytime you are up in my neck of the woods, you are welcome my friend.
I can relate to your frustration, and I can empathise with Steve as well.
This has got to be disheartening to see such personal slams and character bashing happening right before you Steve.
I saw that post about the US polotics show up yesterday, I personally was not going to read it, untill I read this post. Then I was curious what all the comotion was about.
So I read some of the posts and was amazed. absolutely amazed at the lack of maturity and professionalism of some certain few.
What we need is personal policing, not Steve to police us or our emotions. But as we see all the time people DON'T take personal responsibility and then some law maker or in this case a moderator may be forced to take action to police this place.
This issue is gonna make or break this place, and I for one am pissed!
I, like many have been here for quite a while and, to think the quality of this board is getting deminished for the lack of responsibilty of a few childish morons gets me tweaked.
Maybe a posting suspention for continued personal slandering might be in order.
I'd rather see the continued antagonisers go away then the mature responsible talented people that contribute on a positive level to this place.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Yo.....Gavin! I was smilin' the whole time.........hoping you were too! C'mon, Steve. I see VERY few actual "mean spirited" posts here. Everyone loses it once in a while. We're only human. I hang out here second only to the "old guys" Swiss forum where actual internet minutes are concerned. If I had to read nothing BUT sign subjects on this very cool board, I probably would spend far less time here. I love what I do, (BTW...starting a very large mural carving today) but I'd go nuts if I could only communcate in sign-language with fellow letterheads. I stand before you.....a very humbled, very docile, very soft spoken, very.....................................................................CONSERVATIVE FIREARMS FANATIC!!! YEAH!!!
hehehehehe
Fire away, but be careful of my old dog. He's gunshy.

Have you ever made a turn onto a one-way street headed in the wrong direction because the "Do Not Enter" sign was not place properly? You just get the hell outta der, man. I keep this in mind when I open any post. Could be, I might be in a real pissed mood and don't want to read anything about somebody's jollies at that moment, so I wait till I'm over it and read about the good news when I can enjoy it. Just so long as they have a fair subject line to let me know where they are starting the post. Now, as far as where the rest of you track the manure on the dancehall floor, that can get pretty far off the mark, or on the mark, depending on which Mark replied. So here's my take on it: Politics --- Who got the ball?
Wa'Yat Gavin? Are you related to the Chacheres lived over in Gretna on Franklin Ave. in front of the Sign shop, Ernest and Dalhia. ------------------ Santo Brocato Promotion Graphics & Letters Youngsville LA.
