I'm doing a car with the graduated vinyl that have been painted. I want to put some kind of sealant on it to protect it. Should I spray it with createx gloss sealant or should I use the UV clear gerber mask to cover the vinyl before I cut it.? Anyone use these grauated vinyls on a car? What should I do. I want it to be a good job. I'm new with the airbrush thing, is there anything I need to know about using the gloss createx on vinyl on a car? Thanks for your help.

Did you use BondAll and Catalyst in your paint??

If you rub the vinyl with a scotch pad to take off the shine - it is not absolutely necessary to use the bondall and the other stuff. Just paint the createx on the vinyl
I clear over the vinyl after with either an automotive clear with some flex additive if I have the time or the Frog juice if speed is essential.
I also use SEM paint which goes straight on and doesn't seem to need clearing. it is transparent and you can build up the colour until it is really dark.
I turn out tons of airbrushing everyday.. in fact, just today I airbrushed six sets of boat registration numbers and 4 complete graphics kits for jetskis.
It's all airbrushed onto vinyl, using createx colors and cleaning the cut vinyl with denatured alcohol before painting.
After the water paints have dried (I live in the 115 degree AZ desert so everything dries quick outside) I coat everything with Frog Juice. I give em all 3 good coats of the "Juice"..
Then allow the clear to dry and weed the graphics.

I would tend to agree with most post's here and go with the frog juice or One-shot's new clear... I have found the new One-Shot to be a little less costly to use and according to one-shot its a very similar product to frog juice.... for base colors ive been using a mixture of sem (sticks to vinyl wickedly) and also thinned out nazdar vinyl ink.... good spraying...

One other point.....we've found that Auto-Air inherently bonds better than it's mate, Createx, on both painted and film surfaces. It truly is safer to use the additives. I can't remember ever having an airbrush job fail using Auto Air with the additives.

I cheated and bought this airbrushed vinyl already painted. When I got it, it just seemed to what to show dirt. It is going on a drag car so it will get dirty. Today I'm suppose to receive my new airbrush, so after practice I will be doing my own. I just what to get this job finished because I had to wait 3 weeks for the vinyl to come in. It seems like most everyone agrees that frog juice is the way to go. Now my question is, how do you paint with frogjuice? Can I use this in my air brush or what?

You can use your airbrush to clear coat the vinyl, but you'll need to use mineral spirits or lacquer thinner for clean up. Both Frog Juice and 1-Shot UV Clear are available in rattle cans, which is by far the most convenient.

I've been contemplating using the screenprinting inks versus paint because I know those inks will adhere to the vinyl with no question, plus I sometimes have problems with the Createx stuff gumming up inside my airbrushes because the air is so dry here. Before I moved from the mid-west I never had a problem with paint drying inside the a/b's.. =)
Anyways, a review of your experience with those inks would be appreciated. Are you using the GV series or the 9700 series inks?
Even though I do plan on getting into screenprinting, I dont want to invest $20 in a quart and end up not using it before its shelf life is up. =)

Cynthia: Frog Juice is available in spray cans, quart cans and gallon cans.
You can spray it or even brush it. I think they recommend using a foam brush for brushing though.
The vinyl you got was airbrushed? I've seen the screenprinted graduated stuff but not airbrushed.. =) I assume it has kind of a "rough" surface texture and that's why it collects dirt?
You'll love airbrushing once you get the hang of it! I bought one long ago just to try it out.. it was an Aztec model with a propellant can and although I had problems keeping it clean and keeping a supply of propellant cans I liked the results..
I just HAD to go get a real airbrush setup and now I have six of them laying around, plus three compressors, an air tank, and a CO2 tank for mobile work. =)
