Vic. Most of the stuff ya ever hear is from a bunch of people that don't have a clue, and are just passing on all the BS rumors and myths the have surrounded Kenny Howard since day one. Bob Burns has written an article on him and was his friend for over 30 years. That would be the best place to start that I can think of. (theres a link to it on my web-site)
Ed Roth had a video tape with him several years ago, that was pretty good, if ya can find a copy. The few times I was ever around him in the mid 50s and 60s were no big deal, and not much to talk about. I just happened to be growing up in the same neighborhoods and hung out in some of the same shops as did quite a few other guys wwith the same interests. Like I said, no big deal. As far I know, There weren't more than a handfull of people that ever really got close to him, and I wasn't one of them........ but I did manage to pick up a few cool little tricks from the guy.... Check out Bobs article......

Victor, you are not alone as I am totally aware of why many older signmakers may not have heard of "Von Dutch" in the past as vehicle art and pinstriping was not part of their agenda. But if someone brought up Emmette Morrelli or Mike Stevens, I'm sure it would be a different story. I suggest you read Bob Burns posts regarding his friend.........
