I've used Gregory's chrome before. Mainly because I couldn't talk the customer out of it. Water sand the surface, clean, prep and apply the film. I added striping (House of Color), drying time...

Now comes the fun. Use an adhesive promoter (Dupont 222) and then bury the graphic under Dupont production clear. It dries quickly so you can water sand and buff or even re-clear if needed in a short while.

This can be a fun prooject if you have the time and space. Drop me a line and I'll give you the product codes for the clear if you like.

Hope this helps,
Wayne

We had been asked a number or times to put Chrome Mylar copy on windshields, but the problem was the scratches that appeared when the wipers hit the copy. Always somebody wants 4" copy on the top of the windshield. My son came up with the answer. We cut the copy in chrome, DON'T weed it. Shoot it with Pelucid. Let it cure for 10 to 15 minutes and then weed it carfully and quickly. Let it cure overnight, premask it and apply it. No scratches. Ever.

Ooooooh........I DO! I DO! (jumps up and down) PlEEEEEEEEEEase ask me!! Cool schtuff, Joey, but after we had my son's custom car frame done (for BIG bucks) in dark green, it lasted three weeks before the first chips showed up. When I went back to question the dealer, he sez........"Hey, man..........exactly what did you expect?" He redid the affected areas for us, so I can't complain, but we finished it by coating with something else. I'm sure you can't imagine with what.

I could understand that Pierre, I mean the chips and all. This is because of a combination of bad preperation and polyester powdercoating that is widely used today. Persons always seem to have time to do it over yet never time to do it correctly the first time.

However I have had my grills done on my car and certain parts of my Cortez and in over twelve years both are yet to discolor or chip.
Powdercoating is not a new product as the government has been doing it since WW1.

When persons see the amount of money they can make from any product, prices usually go up and quality comes down. This along with our EPA causes BS in any world.........
