After today I definately need to learn how to pinstripe with the new Mack disappearing brush hairs. Whether it be new brushes or ones broken in, they all seem to lose hairs in the middle of a 1/32" triple line.
Believe me, I know how to pull a straight line and how much of which flow enhancer to use but I am sick and tired of BS I have to hear from persons and reps who tell me that all brushes are equal and are made the same as yesterday. What is the real truth behind this problem?
And to add to my problems, as I'm striping at a dealership today someone comes up to me and says that his neighbor is the worlds best pinstriper and never uses a guide line ever. Great I say then he asks if I ever heard of VonDutch...... I said yes and he tells me that Dutch is his neighbor, so I asked him when was the last time he saw him!!!! He tells me that its been a while maybe couple months. I then show him my "in memory of' VonDutch flying eyeball wrist tattoo and he says Dutch ain't dead........ Nice!!!

Joey, c'mon man, get up to speed with the times! Beuglar Stripers don't loose hairs.They are for the real stripers. They are more environmentally friendly and don't depend on animal hair. Dutch was old school, we have metal and vinyl now!

Are you an Eviro? Do you actually believe that animals come before people, do you believe that the Klamath farmers aren't worthy of water? Can the fish grow your farm products?
In the fifties Morano pearl was made using fish scales, do you have any left overs?
Its funny to me that there are some who have certain beliefs still use MDO as a substate, and that be wood huh?
I believe that there are certain tools to be used but haven't seen a roller do scroll work yet and neither has Gary!!
Do your brushes scream when you put them to work?
Truly though if we really want to clean up the enviroment, we should start with all the sh-t in DC whose only job is to seperate our money from us. How much land does anyone really need?
BTW, did you buy your permits to hike on the trails yet?

Joey I don't know if this is true or it will work. But someone told me years back to put some Hideglue in the housing of a new brush to stop the hair lose... Like I said I have never done this! I don't know if it helps or not. You have been at it longer then I.

I thought that only happened to me!Whew now I feel better.Stripes on Harley fenders for custm bike builder.When he spots a hair in the stripe(I usally remove before delivery) ask me if I can do that to ALL his stripe jobs. huh? This guy claims it is the small flaws that give the "hand painted" look. Go figuire

And furthermore Joey.... If we keep killing animals for the hair, maybe we should have some special fast food restaurants for signwriters and stripers, and run by them, where we serve squirrel and eggs, grilled ox sandwiches, camel pudding, etc. Get the rig striped while eating?
Joey, we all have hairs falling out. Brush quality is down. I did see a guy doing scrolls with a Beuglar tool at a sign convention a couple years back...flames on a fender, not small and tight, but nice curves. I came home and tried it. Practiced for half an hour and went back to brushes.

Rick, Camel Pudding? As in Camel hair brush? How about Ferris Wheels, are they made of Ferris? Camel invented the hair brush!!!!!!!!

When I first started lettering, I was shown to take a needle with some ?epoxy resin? to squirt in the band of the brushes to secure the hairs and that was 20 years ago. Art Sign brushes were just being discontinued where I was but were valued highly in the trade. Langnickles were coming into the arena in the area. Liquitex manufactured the Art Sign brushes, Grumbacher was about the second choice or up against Raphael. It really all depended on where they were manufactured, but of course, as time went on, the assembly of the brushes reflected a downhill trend on quality. In any case, the idea of using a glue to secure the hairs when newly purchased was another tip on how to get them to lose less hairs.
