Just upgraded my Powermac 8500/180 to a G3400. I'm flying now! Sonnet technologies has these upgrades for under $200 now. Very easy to install, with just a little techie knowledge. I always call my pal Sam Sanfillipio when I get in trouble, but he has just about got me up to a Macguru with all his knowledge. I've added a usb card too, and can use any of the new printers and zips, etc. Never had it so good!

That sounds great John. Did you really notice the improvment? I got one of the upgrade cards for a 7100/80 up to a 200mhz.. sad thing was that i saw no real imporvement in speed. I have much better now but would have loved the thing to work like i thought it should then.
just curious. =) and grats on the new rocket. )

Tried to e-mail ya a couple of times but now I see you're no longer in Knoxville TN! Hope things are going good for ya in Iowa!
Did you get one of the early 200 mhz G3 upgrades for the 7100, or was it the 604E processor? It may be a control panel / extension glitch if you didn't see an immediate improvement. Netties old 7300 sure made a jump with the 500 mhz G3 from the 200 mhz 604E. (BTW Thanks Nettie!)
And John, thanks buddy for the compliment there! I feel all gushy! I told ya the upgrades were worthwile.............Now you can work faster & make more money! Hahhahahahhahhaahaaa!

Yeah was one of the first few cards they came out with... i tried a few of the updated drivers and such at the time. Now that machine is at my dad's place for internet access and email and such... likes to look at daylillies on there.. haha. I have a g4 that does me pretty well now. =)
Iowa is definitely a different place. but getting settled in now and starting to thaw out and look around haha.
But, again, is nice seeing a few friendly faces again. Been awhile since i have been around.
any way i can help out, you guys just give me a yell or email... love to do what i can.

Yeah, Tony, noticed a marked change in speed on startup, programs, etc., especially photoshop and typestyler. They open up in half the time they used to. Only installed it yesterday, so haven't played too much yet. I'll put it to work tomorrow though. Man, I sure do love the macs! Hey Sam! Good lookin' pic there man! And, without your tutoring, I wouldn't be where I am today. I'd probably still be on my little performa 636, which was a great little computer, but not compared to this G3. I am a happy machead now. Holler at me sometime!
