I'm bidding on a sign that is begging for gold leaf in the logo. I have never done this kind of work, but I've attended seminars and own a pretty good book on the subject. I'm willing to attempt it on this sign, as it will be 15 ft in the air, and the viewpoint is across the street. It also gives me a good excuse to get the supplies I need.
What is the going rate per foot, sq foot, sq. inch(?) If I'm going to talk them into it, they'll want a price, don't ya know.
I'm not sweating this either, I learned airbrush and lettering (basicly), on my own, so just another weapon to add to my biz.
Thanks in advance.

I usually add 25% to the cost of a hand-painted sign when using gold leaf. That price is for flat, engine-turned gold on letters that would otherwise be painted. On bigger projects, or work done outside the shop (boats, for example) I will usually double the painted price (sometimes more, depending on the job).
