I have popped the bar of my Gerber 4B. It has been working on loosening for a while.
I now need the pin holding on the tracker feed retainer clip.
It looks like it is broken and it may have been riveted. I don't want to send my plotter out. Is it possible to obtain one of these, and only with Gerber? How are they attached?
as always, thanks,
Deb

Hi Deb. Once upon a time...quite awhile back, I accidentally did the same thing. When I called gerber, they advised me to tale it to a local machine shop and have the hole re-drilled & re- tapped for a new screw, and while I was at it, might just as well do both sides. The inside walls of the plotter are threaded, and those threads do strip easily. It,s probably a better idea to bolt through that wall, than to rely on a thread that will re-strip all too easily.

If you don't want to do that, you can effect a "temporary repair" by using a 6" c-clamp. Simply replace the hold down in the down position, and place the screw into the hole from whence it came. Now, adjust the clamp jaws to their widest position, and place the top portion of the clamp (the one without the turn screw) onto the head of the loose screw. You can now tighten the clamp just sufficiently to hold the retaining screw in it's proper position, and also position the clamp head so that it won't interfere with the passage of the vinyl as it goes through the plotter.

Hope this helps you out.
