what is a direct sublimation machine and what does it do I have seen an ad for one for sale but do not know what it is it is for signage use but what type I don't know thanks Ian

I believe that you are talking about a dye sublimation machine. It actually isn't a machine but an inkjet printer with special inks and a heat press. Not too expensive to set up. About $1500 Aussie bucks. You have to buy substrates with a special coating. Your inks have to be dye sublimation inks (expensive). The trophy businesses are using these right now. No outdoor durability but will work fine indoors. Great for tshirts. The process is you print the graphic on a special paper. You then heat press it on to a substrate. Ink will "sublimate" right into the material fibres or onto a special coating. Advantage is full colour and you can go into mass production or onzies and twozies. I won't do it because of outdoor durability. No UV resistance for signage but they are working on this.
