Greetings friends, fellow letterheads and aquaintences.
I have an announcement to make.
After 26 years in the sign business I am turning the page. Time for something new.
Tuesday morning at 8:00am I will embark on a new career challenge. I have accepted a position in sales with a vacation resort in Branson, MO. For the last few years I have gone in and out of varing degrees of burnout and have finally decided to do something about it. My first love will always be the art of hand lettering, but as we all know the computer has had an enormous effect on that part of the trade. I spend less and less time with a brush in my hand and more and more with a mouse instead. I don't love the mouse. Maybe it's a midlife crisis...maybe. I do know that I have thought about this for some months now and other changes in my life have had an effect also. I'm not happy with my life as it is so it's time to take a step in a forward and positive direction.
I will continue to make some signs but only the ones I really want to make.
Family and friends have been very supportive and i hope that those of you who know me or my work will be the same.
I'll still be checking in to read the board and maybe even give an opinion once in a while.

Glad to hear that you will still be doing some signs. It would be a shame for someone with your love and talent to walk away from it completely.
I wish you all the best in your new endeavor, and hope to get to meet you again someday. Hell, I might even wind up in Branson some time.

Truly courageous! Brave. What an example of leadership. It's so important to love what you do and do what you love. Recognizing the lack of current love for how you spend your time is a valuable insight and letting go is brave. Finding a new love to spend your time on is essential, or else nothing is accomplished other than a change in some external function. Terry, develop that love for sales!

Joey is right Terry. There is something more to Letterheads and Letterville than just painting. You may change directions, but you will never be far from the hearts and minds of all your "family" here.
I know you have been having a tough time these past few months. When my health and keen financial talents resulted in the lose of my dream shop, I was sure my life was over. On the darkest day of my life, a window opened that evolved into Letterville. Tough times never last but tough people like you do.
Good luck from all of us Terry. We're always here for you.

I guess this means the samples of your work I have hanging on my shop wall are now real collectables! Do I hear any bids? ebay maybe.
Are all your letterhead buddies first on the list for buying time shares at the resort? (Just kidding of course). Good luck in your new venture! Kathy says you'll be back!

Give it a whirl, man. I don't think you will be losing anything in the change... if anything, broadening your horizons.... who knows, you might get into something that you never knew was there. =) Good luck to you!!!

Terry - I'm saddened by the news, but you know what is best for you at the moment. Your panel is still on the wall and I look at it everyday, just picking up some pointers here and there.
You will still keep a brush handy - it's difficult to let go completely.
I wish you the very best in the new venture. Who knows, you may even make some money. What a deal!
Please keep in touch.

Hey, Terry! What do you have to offer? Anything that we might desire? If we can't make the purchase, maybe we know someone who will! We know you'll do great. We are all in sales, too. After all, we have to sell the signs before we make 'em! Nancy

Terry Teague has one of the most elegant hand lettered scripts I have ever seen!! His brush lettering skills and designs are among the best in the country. He is fast, accurate and a damn funny guy.
I strongly suspect we will continue to see him at Letterhead meets. And if we don't Terry, we'll hunt you down.
My best wishes to you also. Your personality will take you far in that biz as well.

Good luck! I did the same thing two years ago. Left a good career and joined the starving sign makers paradise. Never looked back. It is tougher but more challenging than I ever could imagine. Chane is never stressful but recreates your youth.

Terry, Good Luck with the new job!! Sometimes a new direction is the best cure for burn-out (at least that's been the case for me). It's never too late to learn a new trick or two. I'm glad to see you still plan to paint a few signs but meanwhile, enjoy the change of pace!
