Oops, spelling. Here in the Land Down Under I'm always looking for a pre-finished easy-to cut material to make signs from. Recently I've been using more of a product called Foamalux, I believe it's made in Ireland (so it's gotta be good!)Does anyone else use this? It's about 4mm thick, a 'plastic' feel, comes in nice colours and is easy to cut as well as durable outside. Other materials we use here are: Weathertex, a 1/4" particle board, comes in 12' x 4' sheets (yes I know we use metric here but I prefer imperial) lastes well outside, good to cut with saw or jigsaw though a bit messy with brown dust the byproduct. Another is Colorbond, a coated steel, has some good colours like bright yellow for safety signs, even black, it's cheap and lasting but must be cut with a guillotine. What do you like to use?

Hi Gray....for temporary commercial real estate signs......I use intecel (supposedly like sintra only with a UV coat) The realtors love it and keep asking for more of it. I don't know how long it lasts...have heard bad things about it cracking....and so I need to use something else!! So far.....nothing bad has happened to any of my signs using it. (fingers are crossed)But then, they are only up max a few months. I guess my favorite is still 3/4" MDO.

I am still an MDO fan.....but I sure am sick of the yahoos that think it is funny to laminate right over 1.5" knotholes. I had one board where I cut out, puttied and sanded at LEAST twelve of those puppies on the one side. That just ain't fair.
But I still love working with the stuff.

I'd have to say DiBond or Alpoluc (same thing really) but my customers don't always want to spring for the best. Than it's back to Aluminium or Foamex.

I love the substrate with the highest profitability. Next to that we have been using DiBond for just a short time and my production manager loves it, the customers love it so I guess I love it. 2nd would be alumilite. We are trying to get away from Medium Density Plywood (marine plywood). I get $16-17 a sq. ft for 2, 3, or 4 mil. I recently heard that it is available in thicknesses up to 10mil. We have been making stop signs, trade show signs (instead of banners), etc.
