Mention "Milwaukee Panel Jam 2001" when contacting the top five hotels to receive the discounted price.
Hotels 1,5,6,and 7 look to be the closest ones to the meet.
The airport is the General Mitchell International, if anyone needs that information.
Although these guys from S.W.I.N.E.(South Wisconsin Illinois North East Letterheads) are computer literate, they are just not Internet Savvy. I think there are some things we need to teach these guys. I'll see what I can do to bring them into the 21st Century.
Meanwhile here is the list of seminars and workshops which include:
Basic Hand Lettering : Mike Meyer, Dave Correll, Scout Bouma, and Tim Peterson
Straight Line Pinstriping : DeWayne Connot
Banners/Layouts & Color : Tramp Warner and Vince Ballisteri
Surface Gilding : Jack Lindenberger
Cartooning : Bob Parsons
Dimensional Signs : Rick Dolphens
How to Make a Buck : Butch "Superfrrog" Anton
Airbrushing : Mike "Brain Damage" Ball
Glass Gilding : Robert Frese
Your entrance fee of $50 covers entrance to any or all of these events.
I think this quote from the brochure says it best:
"Pack up your brushes and head off to Milwaukee this summer to learn and play with the Best"
This is going to be an "old-fashioned" meet where we all will learn from each other and have a good time doing it.
Can't wait to see you there!

Oh, by the way, & I don't know how important this is to you, (but for a poor guy like me it is) the only one with breakfast (donuts) is the Select Inn.

Okay guys I got elected. So, ask me any questions you have. 170 people signed up already from Puerto Rico, Hawaii, New Zealand, U.K., and half the East coast. At our last meeting we had the caterer there and he told that won the best barbecue in the U.S. for Mesquite. We got a monster truck lined up to do a little demo. Willie G. of Harley Davidson is donating six leather jackets for door prizes. Barry's working on a layout for a mural for the fairgrounds from old photographs. Any questions, comments please reply. Thanks!

Welcome to the BB Jeff. I really enjoyed our phone chat earlier today. Don't be afraid to use the BullBoard to promote this important meet. One of our main reasons for being here is to get more new people out to live meets. We should also be doing more to get the older Heads back to the meets. Keep us informed on the latest details.
After looking at the info in the up-coming meets section, these things jumped out at me- Living only 35 miles (or 3 or 4 feet) from the Milwaukee Panel Jam site which is in Waukesha (?), I mostly know where this is gonna be...I also know that it's a somewhat confusing area to drive around in, and the map provided on the flyers gives you no context whatsoever as to where this really is in relation to, say, Mitchell Int'l Airport. Which, I will point out, is a good 20 miles from the panel jam and the Amtrak station is about 15 miles away, too. A long and expensive cab ride if you guys are not going to have some sort of shuttle service (like Mike's cool van fleet in Mazeppa?).
Also, I've seen it asked here before, so I'm not the 1st one, but which logo is the official meet logo? Which one will be on the shirts? What is the "official", actual, real name of this event? Who/what is/are SWINE? Is alcohol involved? Am I too damn nosy, or what?
So, my piggy pals, answer those questions so that all us lil' paint pigs will be enlightened. Map (clearer one), shuttle service (limos?), and which logo is "official"?

Thanks for the question WIZ. Yes will have a shuttle service to airplane and Amtrak station. The official logo is the swine on the bike. Done by Wm. J. Krupinski. Awesome job there Wm.J. That killer design will be on the event T-shirt and other signage. The map a close up view. If you need larger view Mapquest is very usefull tool that might help. Advance notice would help us schedule your ride. Any Questions let me know.

Just realized that we already have the beginnings of a website all about this meet. It even includes a printable registration form. Over the next week, we'll update this page to include all the info we have to this point along with a map.

Jillbeans--Forgot to mention earlier, I'm still trackin' down one of them cheese-head hats for ya. Need one for your daughter, too? I'm sure she won't be embarassed at all to be seen in public wearing a cheese-head hat whilst being chaperoned by her own mother!
Hey, is there any truth to the rumor that Dave the letterman is taking a challenge to quit smoking for the run of the meet while simultaneously attempting to do his signature "virus" striping on a moving police paddy-wagon without the aid of coffee OR donuts??? Just askin'....
Anybody gonna do some sort of Ed"Big Daddy" Roth tribute panel or somethin' in memory of the head "Rat Fink"?
Is harley bringin' any bikes down to get "the treatment"?
Is the city of Waukesha gonna roll out the red, paint spattered, carpet for the fine up-standing citizens of Letterville?
Are there more questions that need answers? Stay tuned...

Within the next week or two I plan on getting my Chevy S-10 pickup truck repainted. I'm thinking this might be a good opportunity for a demo on doing flames.
I don't have experience doing flames, but I do have an available vehicle, and I can outline, and do roller blends fairly well if there's no spray equipment available...
Anyone experienced in doing flames care to step up?

So, Slewfoot, what happened at yer panel jam brain session? Is Dave "I quit smoking" the letterswine gonna be sending a limo to pick up our paint pal Jill at the Amtrak, forcing Dave & me into a duel as to who gets to pick her up?
Any International 'heads sign up yet?
Can I get a flame job done on the haz-mat "spaceman" suit I'm gonna have ta wear for the event?
Will there be a list of all the great Friday night fish fry places to eat at? It's a time-honored Wisconsin tradition, for those of you who are unfamiliar with it, wherein every bar, restaurant, and catholic church in the state puts together a mouthwatering fish fry with fresh fish-- usually your choice of perch, cod or walleye!! YUM!! Some places offer potato pancakes with it, along with yer 2 kinds of coleslaw (creamy or vinegar), yum, some more!
OOps, sorry Jay, I'm gettin' off topic!!
