where does one get one of those building foam insulation hot wire devices? also, can anybody point me to some info about using the stuff to cut letters or smallish signs (under 6 square feet)? is the stuff a waste of time, or should i keep looking into it?

I think there was someone advertising one of those contraptions in either SignBusiness or SignBuilder.

I know its not much, but I hope it helps.

I was in a hobbie shop the other day and they have Hot wire foam cutters for building train landscapes. They had replacement hot wires also.
