Hiya 'heads,
I'm sorta getting stuck in the middle of this one & could use a little help.
A good client of ours, similar to what Cam discribed in his "perfect client" post, has a son starting his own construction business.
To make a long story short, this new client gave us artwork from a designer who has supplied us with a "pdf" file on disk. The designer is in the process of moving & is unavailable for the moment.
Is there anyone here that can possibly convert this graphic into a file that I can cut? I have Gerber 6.21 & Corel 5. between the 2 I can take almost anything but pdf.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
The link to the file is: http://members.home.com/sign-it/KCC03bw.pdf
Unfortunately the project is already 3 weeks behind schedule.

Thanks in advance & havin' fun,

Checkers

p.s. I'll try to put up the full story when the project is finished. It's pretty good but not quite a lenny story.

Hiya Robert,
I have to agree with your original statement. This may not be the best design for this new client. We offered recommendations for improvment but the suggestions "fell on deaf ears."
I gonna guess that the guy paid a lot of money for this design & he feels that a "sign guy or gal", who probably would charge less, is incapable of better work. Oh well
Havin' fun,
Checkers

Hi Brian. Check your e-mail. I sent both a PLT file as well as an EPS file. I hope this helps.

Ken,
could you please explain how you converted it?
I, for one, get these files once and a while and always end up re-creating from scratch.

Your PDF or Portable Document File is an Adobe Acrobat Reader file. Corel Draw can read these. Once you can get any file into Corel Draw...you can export it out to Gerber. Get a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader and Corel Draw and you will have no problems with these types of files. If you just want one program that will do it all...it's Corel Draw.

Hi there Mark. The process is exactly as described by Lou. I use Corel draw 8 to open the file, then exported out of Corel as an EPS file, used the file converter in GA6.21 to convert the EPS to a PLT or vector file.

The only 2 programs that I run are Corel 8 and Graphix Advantage. Incidentally, Corel 8 will also accept some file types not listed in their Import/Export menu. Bob Darnell was kind enough to post a file type index that I've found quite helpful in determining what unknown file extensions are, and identifying what you may be dealing with. It's at: http://www.whatis.com/ff.htm
