Anyone had any experience converting pen plotters for use as vinyl cutters?

Never tried this but how would you deal with the cutter blade going to deep and cutting into the plotter itself? (no cutter strip)

Yes, we designed and had a tool and die maker turn out some for the Ioline plotter. We cut tons of vinyl with them but the problem is not the cutting attachment it's the drive motors on most pen plotters were never intended to be strong enough for cutting. It takes a lot more strength to feed vinyl through with a knife blade inbedded in it than it does to move a piece of paper with a pen barely touching the surface. You will end up with a machine that requires 'spoon-feeding' the vinyl through it and constant tinkering to keep it cutting correctly. I still have a couple left if your still interested,,,,cheap. The Roland 24" is less than $2000 and that's a small investment for the return on your money.

If you can't find the time to do it right,
where gonna find the time to do it over?
