One of the fun things about visiting the web site is meeting and networking with new "friends".
Our best customer has a property in St.Petersburg that needed a new identity sign. They wanted us to do it, but I knew that Janette Balogh was in St.Petersburg so I called Nettie and we worked out arrangements for her to make the sign that we had designed. She just sent me photos of the finished sign and it came out great! My customer is thrilled. So, thanks Nettie for all your great work and thanks Steve and Barb for making this possible. It never would have happened without Letterville. (I can now tell people that I have a "branch office" in Florida).

Just want to return the thanks to Rich for thinking of me with regards to this job, and entrusting me with it. It was quite a biggie, and I felt flattered that he felt comfortable enough with me to farm this project out long distance. I'm glad it worked out well.
The job was a total of 4 signs for a subdivision in St. Pete. 2)-4'x8's on posts, and 2) 8'x12' billboards using a total of 6) 4'x8's mounted side by side vertically (3 per side) and installed back to back to create a double faced structure. Here are some pix.
Thanx again Rich for the opportunity to work for you. Call me your "Florida Branch" anytime! This is the 8'x12'. A shot of the 4'x8' A view of the billboard at a distance.
Thanks also to this website for the exposure that brought me this contact, and this job. It really was a pleasure working with Rich and his crew at Sign Concepts all the way in Ohio.

Nettie, Very nice job. Very nice indeed! I have some questions... Is the work painted, especially the logo bkgd blend...ssmmoooooth! Was the work done on location (8x12s) or dismantled from the shop and mounted on the structure? was the design provided? fill us in on the specifics, please. I'm impressed.

I'll fill you in on how all this transpired, and the details on how I tackled this job.
Rich sent me a Corel Draw file of the design, and asked for some of my input on the design. I liked it as is, and only made a change or two on the original, then sent it back. The most prevalent change I made was to expand the silhouette of the grass across the entire bottom of the panel, where it had stopped within the palm tree area before.
I'll emphasize that this was entirely Sign Concept's design, and I was quite pleased to pull it off to everyone's satisfaction. It's wonderful to see a design come to life from a peice of paper.
Upon approval of the cost and reciept of the deposit, I visited the site to determine the shade of the background colour of the panels.
I started with a scaled out drawing of both the billboard and the 4'x8'. Since I was provided with a file of the billboard version only, I adjusted the layout to suit the 4'x8' shape suitably.
Most of the sign is done with paint. The only vinyl portions are the black palmtree, grass silhouette and the black shadow on the lettering. Also, the darker sagey green stripes and the word "APARTMENTS" are vinyl. I started with a white background, so all the areas that were to remain white were masked off and then painted with the background colour. I also masked off the sun, so it would remain white until I painted it. That way the yellow would really "pop" once it was painted. With the sun masked off, I painted the sunset blend with rollers, and then unmasked and hand painted the sun with a subtle yellow blend. The peach/coral outline on the main copy is also hand painted.
The billboard was in panels at my shop. Dave (my boyfriend) built me a frame on which I clamped the panels together with pinch clamps. I labeled each billboard group of three, so that, upon install it, they were sure to line up.
Rich's customer called me and wanted to inspect the job ... up close and personal! (gulp) before the day of install. I was relieved to see a big smile on their faces when they left here that day.
When I was first confronted with the prospect of this job, I drew a big breath, and weighed everything carefully. I knew that thru the distance of this business transaction, communication would be key. Things would need to be clear and spelled out. Rich and Ellen were wonderful to work with, and I did my best to keep them informed throughout the production of these signs. I now draw another big breath of relief to know that it was a success, and that they are up without any glitches.
Thanks for appreciating all that went into this project. It really did consume some time, but I think the result was worth it.

Wonderful News Richard and thanks for sharing, you are a good judge of talent and character. Janette Balogh is a very skilled and thoughtful sign artist as well as being a good soul.

I'll second that motion. She's a kind lady. Nettie called me on the phone, when I first became a member, to show me how to post pictures on the BB site and talked for about a half-hour guiding me through the process. I live in North Central Canada.
