Well dang it. I just found out that Leasing really sucks.
Leasing company is coming to get my 2 presses and the 30" gerber plotter thursday. Now they tell me they want the GA software that goes with the plotter which will put me totally out of business if I don't get CoCut to go with Corel. Which means I also need Corel 10 which means I need to upgrade from windows 95 to 98. I just got my Summa D610 up and running Friday. Thank you very much "Summa".
Since I have so much upgrading to do anyway. Any thoughts on alternatives thats comparible in cost? And do as good a job?
Or effecient I should say?
Oh yeah.
What Did the FISH say when he ran into a Concrete wall?

DAMN!!!

Gary...Sorry to hear about your difficulties. As far as Corel and CoCut are concerned, the two of them together are MUCH less expensive than any other major signmaking program. If I remember correctly, Summa can provide you with Windows drivers so you COULD try cutting direct from Corel and see how well it works for you. If you aren't happy doing that then go ahead and get CoCut.

I don't know what the deal is the the U.S. nowadays, but it used to be that in Canada you could pick up an earlier version of Corel at a reduced price once a later version came out. If you can find Ver 7, 8 or 9 it might be less expensive and will do pretty much everything that version 10 will as far as creating graphics for output to a vinyl cutter. Obviously, if you got version 7 you could still use Windows 95, (and probably version 8 as well, I think I was using ver. 8 with Win 95)

Another thought that I believe is quite legal. There are lots of folks who have purchaced and possibly still have several earlier versions of Corel. If you can find someone who has one of those versions and they are willing to sell you the original CDs and manuals, that could save you money too.

Good luck!

Dave, Those are some good thoughts. Thanks...
forgot to mention I do have CorelDraw 7. but I need to upgrade anyway as an employee walked off with CD's and manuals. Have learned that Corel 10 has good vectorization and tracing that 7 doesn't have. Also contouring in 10 is better than 9. I guess I'm talking myself into this. I can afford to do this. I just can't afford to make any mistakes in the process. I'm really looking forward to getting out of the ScreenPrinting business. It's served me well all my life but it's time to start over. I enjoy all the aspects of signage and have lots of things to learn. I'm not proficient at hand lettering but adequate. I love art in all its aspects. And envy the abilities that I've seen come from here. Maybe envy isn't the correct word. In AWE would be better. It's just great to be able to pick the brains of those who are truely Master's at what they do best.

Gary...when you upgrade to Corel 10, buy the "upgrade" and not the "full" version, since you already have Corel 7 in your computer! The same goes for Win 98! That will save you more than enough to buy CoCut!
While you are busy spending all your savings, you just might want to upgrade your computer.

I got corel 10 but WHERE is my PLT file format in the save? I'm glad I kept 9 on my computer or I would be up the creek, unless you tell me where they hid it....
Thanx... you corel whizzer you.

Hey Edna! Long time no see! Git yer butt into chat some time girl.

I don't have version 10 yet but have you tried "export" instead of "save"? In version 9 it is in both places...maybe they figured it only needed to be in one place?
