Someone from this bb sent me an attachment in zip format. They were inquiring if I knew a font by another name, My wife did exactly as I have instructed her in the past and deleted it immediately, emptied her trash and rebooted with the virus program active. She did not write down your e-mail address or even remember the name, though she thought it might be peterson or something. Please be aware of the dangers of opening zipped files or exe files from a stranger, and also if this person is really intrested in finding that font, do a search with the name and font in quotes, and you will probably find it. I apologize for my lack of response to your e-mail, who ever you are. If you want to send me a sample, make it a jpg. or upload it on your webpage as a jpg and send me the link. Thanks, Bill PS my wife always does what I tell her to! Yeah, Right! Anyway I am proud of her anyway! LOL

Bill....Interesting you should mention that particular e-mail request. I checked my e-mail this morning and lo and behold there were 4 identical messages from a guy named Keith Wilde requesting me to identify a letterstyle on my website. all mesages read the same and included some kind of code that was looked kinda weird to me. I deleted the messages and the image files he had attached too. I don't think that reading a message can do any harm but I'll soon find out I guess.

I personally delete ALL attachments when they come via email.
I've yet to figure out why some email appears to have them and some don't. Is it the way one is resending a message? Or could this possibly be a hidden virus that the sender isn't even aware of? One can't view just what kind of file the attachment is unless opened, can they?
I love Eremove. I delete all junk mail and mail from anyone I don't frequently communicate with even before I download it.

Donna, In Outlook Express, you have the option of attaching a photo to the e-mail or as an attachment. Some use it as an attachment, as it is just easier to handle that way. You can view the file type, and if it is a gif or jpg, which 90% are if they are photos, they will not be carrying a virus. I have been told by many gearheads that graphic files will never carry viruses. The ones that I have recieved that carried them have always been .exe, but I know that their are a few others that can.......Bronzeo

Last week when I was downloading email a message flashed on my screen that someone was sending that love you virus to me. I clicked on the button acknowledging that I saw this and noted that it came from one of our leading industry manufacturers. I was rather amazed to find that my virus software caught this and removed it before it entered our system. When I spoke with the guy that sent it, he said he tried remembering all he sent mail to to phone them with a warning. His system went kaput and it took three days to get it going again. I'm using the Kapersky protection that you can find at AVP.com.
When a photo is embedded into the content of email it's viewed when the mail is opened but you usually have no way to save the photo. When it's sent as an attachment it usually goes to a download folder and can be opened and saved and re-sent. I don't know that any way is safer than the other.
