Here's the deal, I created a logo for my dad, he builds model race boats (4 point hydros). I made him some decals for them and now some of the people that buy his boats want some as well.
They are two color, (simple copy with outline) the dimensions are approx 11" long and 3 1/2" high.
How would you price theses? I told my father's friend $25.00 for four of them, should I be considered retarded, right on the money or what?
Thanks! Tony B

Hey Tony I believe in the value of a Shops Hour! 2 for the price of..... One Hour!
If you are not doing these in a mass production and only on "The One Off!" then charge for the Shops Time.
(Not the Materials as there really isn't any!)
I know it's your Dad and Friends, but business has to start somewere!
What is your worth? 10-20-30-40 an hour?
You have to come up with the time and fee!
Don't let people tell you that it only takes 5 minutes to do it as then you will only charge the 5 minutes worth or you will give it away. No money in that!!!!!!!!

I'm not clear on the concept here. Is everyone doing the same calculation?
If you do these things sideways on the Edge, then you use 14" (4 times 3.5")of vinyl and 2 colors, so roughly one square foot. The job is all labor.
How are the various estimators building up their price? Is design in or out? Are you applying a setup charge on top of the production charge? Is there a contour cut or is it a rectangle?
I would the job for $35-40 if I thought there was any chance of repeat business. Vic G
