I have ruined 2 rolls of Avery Silver Matalic now. Guess it ain't my day to print on Silver Metalic.
What happens is the silver comes right out of the back pin track as if the foil is sticking to the silver and lifting it up.
Sometimes, I can fix the problem by rotating the print job 180 degrees.
I did install that new attachment on the back of the clamp that comes down over the vinyl and holds it in place...well is suppose to hold it in place
I even clicked on the lightest setting of pressure, and yes, I did tell the Edge I was printing on metalic 220.
This only seems to happen when using silver. It only happens when the customer is standing right there watching or when ever I get a chance to make a buck.
Does this happen to you? Have you figured out a reason why it happens? Or have you figured out a solution?
Thanks in advance.

Geez Dave, what a bummer. The solution is to NOT use Avery, but rather Gerber silver. That way, if you do ruin any, they WILL replace the foil & the silver mylar.BTW, isn't theirs treated with a special top coating to make it "Edge-Ready"? If Avery's version doesn't have the top coating, that may be the source of your problem.
I know that Gerber's silver is substantially more expensive, but if you're wasting 2 rolls of Avery, that can';t be economical either.

Dave I don't quite understand how the vinyl can come off the pins. My Edge has a device that wraps the vinyl over the roller and covers the pins.
If the foil is sticking to the vinyl, maybe it is the Avery Silver. I run Gerber 220 through my Edge all the time with no problem.
I do know each material has a different heat setting and maybe the heat setting for Gerber metalic Silver is not compatible with Avery Metallic Silver.
Try a roll of Gerber Silver and see how that reacts.

This may be totally unrelated, but I my experience is that non-Gerber vinyl does not track as well as Gerber on long runs. Can't give you a good technical reason why. It just does not. Vic G

Hiya Dave, If I understand your problem correctly, the vinyl derails from the pin fed rollers on the machine. The problem is the way the vinyl is punched. Lay your Avery vinyl on top of a roll of Gerber vinyl and compare the holes of each to see if they align. I've had a similar problem when trying to overlay multi-color graphics from different mfgs. Sometimes the punch could be off as much as a ¼" in as little as 2'. Hope this helps. Havin' fun, Checkers
