Happy Birthday, Glenn! I hope you have a great one.
I'll be joining the ranks in a couple months. I'm starting to get that mid-life crisis feeling myself. It just dawned on me last week that those "pretty young things" on Spring Break could be my daughter.
Thank goodness my wife won't let us have any kids. She says one's enough.
Just yesterday a friend told me, her mother told her, that a year ending in 9 was the last in a decade and usually re-capping and grieving were normal...yet the next year was the first of the next decade and to be celebrated, not feared!
Thinking 39 forever, I think Cheryl noticed the magic in that and can revel in the anticipation of each new day! She sure keeps a bright smile on her face!
My mother called me on my 40th birthday and seemed confused when I denied depression! I told her, "I got all the way up here, I'm excited about it and I dare anybody to give me any lip about it or I'll swat em back down hill with my walker!"
(I don't have a walker yet, I believe an inflite killerkart would be more appropriate, at least I pray so.)
Dance tonight and hug everybody you love! I'm high-fivin ya from here and will continue to do so!

I thought it was cool to say I was "the speed of a record" (33-1/3) when the kids asked me how old I was, until they asked me "What's a record?"
Have you gotten that e-mail that went around about the kids born today will have never seen .... or heard ... or had to deal with ...???
The ...'s are ALL things WE grew up with: records, having to get up to change the channel, only having 13 channels or less to choose from, video was Super8 a projector and a lot of clicking noise... and they don't know the "other" Bush or that Reagan was the "bad" President let alone an actor too, or that Nixon was a "very bad" President without looking it up in a book, or why we laugh at men in yellow rain coats falling over on a tricycle, or that one time there were no Microwaves in the house,,, and 8-track means an active mind not the latest KISS record in a portable format you can play in your car and NOT have to worry about hitting a bump in the road... seatbelts have always been required, and....
I know I'm not the oldest here, in fact I get my share of "you're just a baby", but I do remember seeing "just one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" on our Black & White TV at Gawd-awful:30 one night a long long time ago.
Enjoy life, don't waste it fearing the rasin stage. Get a T-shirt that says Old enough to know better, but Young enough to do it! and smile when they look at you funny because you're riding a grocery cart through the parking lot at K-mart!
