Before I came back to St Louis I did some computer clean-up and it looks like I'm missing Scotsdale. I wouldnt have known it if I didnt have an online customer asking for it from my online font list.

Anyways, for the life of me I cannot remember where I got this font. It's not on my Corel 8 CD, nor my Illustrator 8 and 9 CD's. It's not even on my "2000 Fonts" CD. I know I didnt download it because all my downloads go into one folder which never gets touched except for back-ups.

I cant think of any other design software I use that would install additional fonts so if anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it.

By the way, here's what it looks like in case you know of a close replacement. It's "Scotsdale"

Hey Mike! Try looking for Britannic Bold. It's one of those fonts that was snagged by someone and given a new identity. By the way, where did you get the Wide Glide font?

Thanks Greg.

It looks like Britannic is a Linotype font which I think I just might have on a product CD somewhere here. That name sounds familiar actually so I'm going to dig through my archives a bit more. =)

I got the WideGlide from a free font site. Check your email.

Tony,

Yeah actually I was going to use BinnerD as a replacement if I couldnt find the other one. =)

Luckily, the letters in that sample image arent included in the lettering the customer wants so it's probably close enough.

I'm a perfectionist though..

Wide Glide was designed by Mike Clayton, it's the font we were referring to in the font weaseling post that was used on the MTV music awards a few years back. He got the inspiration from my long time best friend Bob Cosgrove. Anybody famaliar with Cos's work will certainly see the "look"

Yes, Wide Glide is a free font. I made it, you are welcome to download it and use it.
Glad some of you liked it enough to have it on your systems

There are other fonts on the "free" sites that may require some fee for commercial use. Check the "read-me" files that come with the fonts. If the font looks really nice, yet has no read me file, then it might be a rip-off or commercial font illegally uploaded to a site.

Other then that, I would go with binnerD too.

(planning on buying some Sign-DNA fonts soon.....)

I ended up using BinnerD.. not an exact match but considering the letters in the sample image didnt appear in the actual job, the customer will never know. =)

The number 4 did make an appearance but all I had to do was thin one of the strokes to make it match.

Cool beans

Mike, sorry to say I've only had one customer in the past two years ask for WideGlide, but I like it! Reminds me of the emblems on the classics.

OK OK so I'm only 24, but there's alot of classic vehicles in town since the average resident age here is like 92 years old. =)
