I know most of you realize my original post was fairly innocent and a rhetorical question.
When I was little, whenever my mom and dad had a certain couple over they would have arguements that lasted well into the night. When I asked why they had them over again and again, they explained that conversation wasn't just exchanging nice words. They said it was also exchanging ideas and finding out if your ideas could hold up in the "light of day" and they really enjoyed their exchanges.
As a culture that has info packaged and fed to us we are losing this skill of arguement, I think, as passionate opinions and rhetorical arguement are mistaken for personal attacks and rudeness. Many people also argue just to expell their beliefs without considering how their arguements compare with the other side.
Anyway, I learned alot from alot of people taking their time to explain alot of issues and I think other "newbies" did too.
So, thanks alot.
PS, Barb wants my photo, but I think I'll wait until I find the right size brown paper bag to fit my head!

Rick, timing is everything. We are all better for the (timely) posting as it has become an issue suppressed for too long. For those who are shy it was wonderful to read everyone's ideas.

Unfortunately, in these days of 'political correctness' and 'cultural' super sensitivity...where everyone is required to be completely innofensive...any arguement becomes a personal attack! If someone offers an opinion, are we really required to simply nod our head in agreement, and not offer a differing view...so as not to hurt their sensitive feelings? Mybe it's just that I have a very thick hide?
Just my humble opinion! So don't argue with me, or I'll come over and show ya what for!
