I just a call from someone to do Magnetic Signs but with a photographic image on them.
I normally just cut vinyl, etc.
What is the best way to do this, screenprint them 4 color process?
Have someone with a produce a color sticker so to speak to apply to the magnetic material?
Or Find a way to do a sublimation transfer?
The size should be 12 x 18 or possibly 18 x 24.
I will doing a sample at first and then will probable pick up a large wholesale account.
I would rather other avoid screenprinting them..... spent way to many years doing that in the TShirt business.

P.S. Yeah the one that you all thought was crazy, for the cheap signs. Look now and you will see my pricing on Banners and such should be in line. There was a story behind the other, regarding the paper signs..... Was not meant to offend.
If you are only doing 1 set of magnetic signs (or even 20 sets) a digital print is the fastest way to go.
Instead of just printing the image and then cutting vinyl for the copy, we print the entire sign on vinyl and then apply that vinyl to the magnetic blank. Our magnetic signs are generally 14" x 24" because 14" is the width of the vinyl. Our Gerber Edge prints in an area of 11.8 inches centered on the 14 inch vinyl.
On the other hand setting up a four color screen process has got to be very expensive as there has to be one screen for each color.
That is why digital printing the entire sign ( which would take about 4-5 minutes each ) is the only way to go in this instance.

Is it time to start another David thread? Dave Draper is right, go with a digital print on this, screenprinting is a medium for multiple copies. I do dislike magnetic signs for this though, being that if one is going to go to the expense for digital why not letter the doors directly, a classier look. I don't understand your P.S. note, what's that about? Finally, Dave Draper, I am intrigued about digital airbrushing. I am in the process of trying to reproduce digitally what I did for a client with the airbrush. If that is what your are talking about, I am looking forward to your article.

How do I go about pricing the Magnetic Signs/and or just plain doing them by way vehicle graphics.
I know it probably verys quite a bit from shop to shop but what should I be looking at to purchase the digital printing wholesale so I can apply it myself directly on the vehicle or the magnetics?
A local shop charges me $25/square foot for full color digital printing on their Roland CM-60. That's their wholesale rate as they charge $50/sq ft retail.
I dont know if that's high compared to what others are charging but another local shop charged me the same rate for a single color Edge print that was then ran through a plotter for a contour cut. That was also lower than his retail price.
It seems to me that if going through the motions to get digital printing, they may as well put the print directly on the vehicle as it's going to be cheaper. Think of all that magnetic material they'll have to pay a marked-up price on!!
