Glad to finally be able to post. Am too new to Letterville to be worthy. Have a question about edge sealers. We are doing a horse trailer in vinyl graphics this week-end and the owner also wants us to fix his already applied vinyl stripes that are starting to peal at the edge of the doors where they turn in. This is a new trailer BTW. The other Q. is. Once I apply this sealer, (pelucid) Will I ever be able to take these stripes off entirely if he decides later he doesn't want them on there at all? Thanks for letting us join in. Gary&Dawn

I wouldn't worry about edge sealing your vinyl graphics if you are using 2 mil cast vinyl...It won't peel up if you prep the surface correctly. If the "factory" stripes are already peeling then they are probably done with 3 mil calendered vinyl.
Suggest that you replace them with the correct stuff.
I haven't used pelucid but I would think that clearing the vinyl would make it a LOT more difficult to remove!

Dave... What did you mean by "Clearing the vinyl"? And yes, we are using cast vinyl. Will probably just cut the stripe at the edge of the door and hope it doesn't peel any further. But you're probably right about having to strip it all off rather than edge sealing. Thanks

Sorry Gary..I should have said edge sealing. Obviously if you edge seal you aer going to have some of the clear pelucid on the vinyl and some on the substrate. That will make reomoval very difficult AND After the vinyl does come off there will be this "outline" of clear pelucid all around what were the deges of the graphics and THAT would also be a real pain to remove too!

Don't do it with Pelucid! Once applied, that's IT! You'll never get the striping off. THat's exactly what it's designed for............permanent!
