I have this one client who years ago I did a furniture truck for. The next one, he had someone else do it. Don't know why, cause they were very pleased with the truck. Okay, back in November, the guy called me to tell me they had another box truck to do. I said well, it's winter, and it'll be hard to schedule, but we'll try. I called em twice when weather cleared up decent enough to do it, and they wouldn't sit it still long enough for me to work on it. I told em to call me when they were ready and I'd schedule em then. Last week they called, and I scheduled them for today and tomorrow. It's an all paint job. I call the guy when I get to the shop and ask when they will bring it, and he says it's out on delivery and will be back around noon. I get p***ed off and tell him I have him down for today and tomorrow and if it aint here in about 30 minutes, we will have to reschedule at a later date. He calls me back and says, okay, we will call you next week and set up another time. Sheeesh! They bought this truck last spring and waited until winter to call me and now it's spring again and here we go. They also have another truck to use, but the drivers don't like it he says. Hmmmmmm.......
This one has me teed off a lot. I had other work I could do today, but still, they have dragged their feet too much on this thing.
I'm thinking now that I might make them wait longer, if they call.

I've been getting a deposit when someone comes in and schedules truck lettering. I find them far more punctual when there is money already on the table and they saw me mark that time slot for them on my scheduler.

I have this too John. Probably the best way is to call a day before to confirm. If they don't show, I let them know how bad this puts me out and don't count on me next time. Usually they are right over. A deposit probably would be the best method to insure promptness.
Here in my area new local and state(I believe) laws require cube vans etc. to be identified, with heavy financial penalties for those that aren't. I remind them of this which makes them move faster.
