Apparently, 'somebody' mixed the wrong ratio of hardener to the resin. Now it's not curing. It's been over 22 hours now and it's hardened some, but it's sort of jelly-like. There is no liquid present and it's not sticky, but it sure isn't hard. This was the third coat to fill in some gaps on a repainted sandblasted sign. Any body have any ideas?

Sorry Ken but from my knowledge of epoxy it will never harden if the wrong ratio of hardfener was mixed in. Best to scrape it off as best you can and clean up with acetone and start again. It ain't like polyester resin that will eventually harden if not enough hardener is mixed in.

Kinda what I figured, but it's encouraging to get second opinions. Thanks again.

Hi Pat, Temperature will affect cure time. Is the A/C on in the shop? The warmer the temp the faster it sets up. Also, a thicker "mass" of the material cures faster. It's just the opposite to glue which air dries as well as cures. Epoxy goes through a chemical reaction and doesn't need air. So, if you're filling large holes or gaps, you just pour it in thick. It doesn't have to be "built up" the way wood filler does. You can also mix in some sawdust with it for filling. On cracks, we have used Dap AlexPlus latex caulk because it has the ability to expand/contract with the wood. We sometimes also use Bondex flexible patch which I believe is virtually the same thing. Are you using WestSystems epoxy? www.westsystem.com
