omega

personally "I like it"

it has alot of great features, but here are some things I have questions on.

I like to use the key board, not a big fan of using the mouse when I don't have to. When I justify my artwork I can't find a way to justify, using the key board once i've hit shift f9. Does anyone know the key stroks?

Also when you are working with TOWS the only way I have found that you can get back to your pointer tool is to hit ctrl M (for you measure mode) then hit P. It works but does anyone know anything else?

any other way to view your pull bars when editing nodes, or do you have to click on them in order to see them?
this really slows me down when editing.

thanks for reading

Wayne,

Glad to see someone else that likes to be efficient with the keyboard. The mouse is a great option for creating object’s if you don’t have a pen tool, however it limits productivity (profitability) in issuing commands.

  • It may or may not be faster, but to justify without using the mouse, SHIFT+F9 as usual, then TAB to desired justification, then press SPACEBAR. Repeat TAB & SPACEBAR as needed.

  • CTRL + B then P will also get you out of TOWS mode. I’m not sure what the proper shortcut key is.

  • If I understand your last request properly, once your object is selected, pressing H will get you in the Detail Mode with the hook tool as your selected tool and object handles will be displayed.

Can anyone tell me why the standard Windoze O/S command of CTRL +F4 will not close a file in an OMEGA Composer window? Works in GS Plot, why not composer?

Here is a tip that a lot of folks seem to like once shown. To quickly get rid of all fills in an object, press CTRL + 1 while the object is selected. Pressing CTRL + 2 will remove all stroke attributes. It saves a tremendous amount of time if you have multiple objects you wish to take back to just vinyl with no print assignments.

Also for those that have OMEGA CL or OMEGA CS. This tip can be handy if you receive .plt files from shops that design in OMEGA CP with image fill and stroke, as you don’t have access to the Image Fill/ Stroke Attributes dialog box and have no other way within OMEGA to “dump” fills and strokes.

How about it OMEGA users, what other gems can you share with us. (Louis, I know your answer is to remove it from the machine!)

Bob

thanks for your reply
I think I just figured out my curve control problem. I'm running an older version of Omega and I need to get the newest revision I'm told that will fix it.

Thanks for your email J.T. thats great!

Does anyone have color ID and if not I don't think you actually have to purchase the pen. I've got a call into Gerber to see if I can order just the color ID option so that I can use spectratone TWO. It's great! you punch in a pantone number and it will give you the closest ten colors printed either spectratone, process our foils printed on all colors of vinyl. it is very cool and I think they should sell it all together. I know I'll be ordering mine.

talk to you later

There is one shortcut key that worked great for me. It's the 'RE-INSTALL YOUR OLDER SOFTWARE' key. I took Oy-mega off my Edge machine last Friday and all of a sudden life is good again. I'm very happy that some of you people like this program and sincerely hope you enjoy it. As for me...I'm waiting for the "full working" version and will leave the BETA testing to others.

I'm still using Graphic Advantage and
Sign Lab, sign lab does everything I need except print spot colors, so I just do it all
in signlab, the easiest program in the world to use, then send to Edge through GA and change to spot colors and rip and print
and Plot on my Sprint.
when Gerber shows me a really good working
program I may upgrade, so far I haven't seen it.
