Got a job doing splashes on a few windows, easy enough job until you put paint on and it ends up full of holes because of silicone. I think all the silicone is coming from the car wash which is next door, as people wash and wax there cars the spray drifts over and settles on the windows. Any suggestions as how to get rid of the silicone, I have tried all I can think of. Don't want to have to do them in vinyl if I can help it...I still like to swing a brush occasionally. Thanks in advance.

I just went through the disaster of a failed gold job on a window because of contamination. Wash your windows with prep-sol to break down the silicone bond, then scrub with Bon Ami and denatured alcohol. When you think it's clean enough, clean it again.

Yep, rapid prep will take care of that. I use it on vehicle windshields cause they come from the factory with silicone, plus people like that Rain-X stuff.

I can't say I've seen Rogers product on the shelves here, but that doesnt mean a lot because I dont get to Oxlades anywhere near as often as I'd like to. If its just residue Whitey then prepsol has worked for me in the past. Silicon also disolves in petrol so perhaps thats something worth thinking about too but I guess thats going to contaminate the glass with other stuff. (perhaps more easily removed) Are Sildrops still available? I havent had to use them in years but for smaller sissing problems it used to be the ducks nuts. Just a thought, David

I've run into this problem many times...and bet ya anything it's from the car wash next door.....try the Rapid Prep, if Rick and Mike say it will work, I trust them on this. I've yet to try it, but will the next time I run into fish eye. I used to spray the effected spot with flat krylon white.....works for small areas if you don't have the RP. A
