A friend of mine deals in paper collectibles and found this old unused ink blotter give-away from American Sign Company here in L.A. from the '30s. When I had my shop they had been in business over 100 years when they finally gave it up. That was in the early '80s. They were located in San Gabriel at that time. The building was finally bulldozed a few weeks ago, sat empty all those years.
Remember telephone call names instead of all numbers? Remember 4-digit numbers? 'stoo bad they went O.B., they had a good reputation. Ah, the Good Ol' Days --

At the shop I apprenticed in, John used a fountain pen and ink blotter at the conclusion of each day, to write in a journal that he called "The Day Book" all that we worked on that day.
We also used the ink pens when they came out with those cartriges and water soluable inks, for marking sign layouts. No blotter though.
