My son that is... as soon as he got out of school Thursday afternoon they went to the basketball court at the elementary school and played with some vigorous boys. My son, Arthur got elbowed and it broke his nose. Find out he has to have surgery and it may have also affected his nasal area... what a spring break! wouldn't you say? Has this ever happened to you? How successful will the surgery be,,, just gathering info. (some vacation!)

Had mine broke by a flyin elbow a few years back(not playin any games at the time). Went home, looked in the mirror, wow! nose was in the wrong place! Got scared and decided to straighten it myself, boy did that hurt(worse than getin it broke) But it looks ok, just sleep on one side only(breaths better thru one side more then the other).

Tell your wife, I do agree that laughter is the best medicine.. she must be the healthiest by now... (and with all those fish you tell us about!) Is this a fish story or did you really straighten out your own!

boxed from 13-17, street fights now and then, did some martial arts, had 4 guys(all at the same time)kick my a**, took out a car radio(58 ford) with my head in a car wreck, i was in the back seat, came over front seat, wrecked on motorcycles couple times...played football..and belive it or not...never got my nose broke, or bloodied....did get my thumb broke once, i was holdin a big drift pin to drive out another pin on a bulldozer...and i held the drift and another guy swung the 20 pound sledge hammer.....well he missed the pin, hit my thumb and broke it at the knuckle near the nail... hurt like he**, i looked at it and my thumb was pointing straight but after the knuckle with the nail...it was almost 90 degrees from the other part....we were out in a field, so i grabed the handkerchief outa my pocket, wrapped it arond my thumb, and pulled it for all i was worth....then unwrapped it to see if i had it straight....wasnt quite right, wrapped it again and pulled it real quick.. and then went back to removing the pin..got it out then went to hospital for stitches....and the doc wanted to know who set the bone back...told him i did....he just shook his head...

Our son is flying down to LA Maritime Museum and crewing on a reproduction tall mast schooner for spring break. He's looking forward to not getting his nose broken, but is excited about warm ocean spray, dancing dolphins, and scuba diving off Catalina Island.

Interesting stories... I guess that is life, huh? thanks for the response, I passed it on to my son. He says it doesn't hurt like it did and played some more basketball(bb) yesterday and moved furniture, without my permission,, I just hope he doesn't overdo it. It's hard to keep a good man down! (got any room on that ship?)
