Hi Linda
The simplistic answer is to export your cdr and use the ttf in the file type dialogue.
It is a little more complex than that but if you try that for starters you should be able to figure the rest out from the prompts and some experimenting.

Like Dave said....But he will also tell ya that a script letterstyle is the toughest thing to make into a font! getting the kerning right is REALLY tough!

BUT IT CAN BE DONE!

Have fun..I spent a whole weekend creating one font and it was only lower case!

Deb..I have no idea if it can be done in GA. Isn't GA a signmaking proggie?

Why would a "sigmaking program" need to be able to create fonts?

Of course CorelDraw is a desktop publishing program..why would anyone use it to make signs?

:

Just havin fun!

Linda read the help section in corel for true type export. It's really simple once ya figure out the kerning options if ya have a full alphabet digitized in vector format. the trick is to have a page setup for fontskinda like a template,& a good understanding of type.

if you are serious about creating a "FONT" then i would suggest...

Macromedia's "Fontographer"

all of the pros use this program.

caution; the learning curve is steep.

Hi Deb. Yes, you can design your own fonts using the GA program. Click on Programs>Graphix Advantage> Font Designer, and then go to the "Help" section. In there, you'll find everything you'll need to know in order to design your own custom font.

There's also another separate program in their drop-down menu which allows you to CONVERT existing true-type fonts into Gerber fonts, which will then appear in your Gerber font folder...separate from the other font folders that you may have. I've converted Mellior into a Gerber font using this Font Converter Program.

Have fun, but don't load up your system with too many fonts...that can also lead to performance problems.

Hope this helps you out.

Linda;
I don't know whether they have been advertising it over there; but AOL have been advertising some software over here called 'your handwriting' by Data Becker at their on line store .I expect they will have it in their on line store there. It is supposed to turn your handwriting into a true type font by you filling out a template of the handwriting and then scanning it.I was thinking of trying it myself. It only costs £14.99 ( just over $20 there ).

Thank you for informing me about the capabilities that are available at my fingertips. Guess I am too busy with life and need to look into this. I have used the converter when I received the free fonts from joining this site. They are really nice to have on hand! I am really looking forward to trying this, though.
