I have a probelm. I ordered a 20oz banner for a 2-sided, open air job. I designed the banner with a white & red background (diagonally from one corner to the other)I was told to use Aquacote on it because it was not enamel receptive. I painted red Aquacote on it with 2 coats and followed the directions carefully with the drying time and cleaning. Well I put my vinyl graphics on the next day. As soon as I tried to remove the application tape, it pulled the paint and vinyl right up. What a mess. The Ronan Company in NYC told me to try a test on a sample piece with scotch tape, press it on the dried spot and pulling it up, if the paint doesn't come up it's OK. The scotch tape worked the the Conform Appl. tape does not. I did a sample of Deka also. That seemed to hold 90% better. I really had to put all my weight into the squeegie on the appl. tape and after about 5-6 times of removing the tape some of the Deka came up. Is Deka the best paint to use or does anybody have any input on this. Thanks. Judy

I'd use Deka, but........I'd have wiped the entire banner down with Laquer thinner, then applied "Enamelcoat" from Best Buy Banner. Then lettered in Deka. O.K., let's say you don't letter. Your going to Vynull it. Order a Banner "Vynull ready" from Aksarben banner in Council Bluffs Iowa. I just did one today in vynull. worked great. If you are already painting it with a diagnal stripe, and you have the computer capabilites to make vynull, you can pen plot a paper pattern and perforate it, get some charcoal and pounce it. Then letter it with a sponge brush. OR use a Vynull mask, and then paint it.
Do you still have to salvage this banner? or it is fixed already? What size is it? Deka works for me! Good Luck! call me if you need some banner attitude adjustment!

Thanks for ther reply. The banner is not salvagable. It's a 3' x 10'. The customer already picked up the banner that worked pretty good with the Aquacote but the next day he called and the paint had come off in about 3 different places. He decided he didn't like the red on it anyways. He wants me to make another one but just plain white with red letters. The only reason why I don't mind too much about what he wants is that he doesn't complain much, he pays for what he asks for, and pays right away. I'll keep making banners for him anytime. But I guess I'll use Deka from now on. These banners are for one of the gas stations on the Indian reservation where last Friday they had gas for $.65 a gallon. Right now it is $1.17. Judy

I would try the banners from Creative Banner. These people just don't sell you a banner. They know their stuff and will be happy to tell you what banner to use and what techniques will work. I have always gotten great advice and great products from these people.
