I've set some pretty vibrant backround colors on a few of the pages of my web site. But I was horrified to see that it didn't look anything like that on other ppls computers!! It was awful! like totally washed out, realizing this may be what most ppl see when they visit my site I need to make some changes right away! Any suggestions? I hate to have to have white as the only backround, brrrrr!!

Hi Adrienne......BTW, our zip drive is installed today. I'm "snail mailing" the van protos and we'll try the email thing thru the zip drive maybe on Friday. Colors, eh............Beige back, Wineberry copy.........Light tan back, Forest green copy,............light ash grey back, Burgundy copy. The other site I hang out at is the "Swiss Rifles" site. They,re black back and Lime green copy until answered or viewed. Then they turn bright purple! Of course yours is a website, not a forum. Stay with the "rich" and contrasting stuff. Dark backgrounds definitely make for impressive photo images.

Adrienne, I created a bunch of backgrounds in Photoshop with the aid of Kai's Power Tools. If you would like some samples I could e mail them to you and you'd be welcome to use any of them. I prefer some color with a little texture but nothing too wild especially for the intro page. For a sample of what I mean go to http://members.tripod.com/~sherwoodsign/index.html

I never finished this page because I'm switching to a different server but there is a background on the opening page and the sandblasted section that will give you an idea of what I mean. I have created several subtle woodgrain, marble, and pebble backgrounds. I used alot of tans and greys so that almost any font color would be easy to read.

Which pages seem washed out? They look nice to me (maybe I have my comp at the right settings)
The dark green table cells on the orange wave back look a little off "to me" but the back looks ok.
BTW those are some beautiful paintings you have done there

Try http://www.iconbazaar.com as they have most anything in web backgrounds and icons with all the codes for you to use.
Using colors complimentary or contrast is also an art in whatever the project. Also some other persons computer may not have the same monitor size etc.......

I have a small monitor, Sony Trinitron, have the colors set high, coz that's what I like....maybe other ppl don't set thier colors as high as i do.
Thanks, all....I change my backrounds frequently, can't help it!
