An old letterhead friend of mine called me the other day with a request. He is a luddite, as are so many of our fine older letterheads, and wanted me to use my internet savvy to see if he could locate another old letterhead friend who has moved and not left a forwarding address.
My friend is John Leslie, who now lives in Salt Lake City, (and making signs for the "Touched by an Angel" television show), and he is trying to locate Ron Overby, or his brother, Don (I think) Overby. Ron is a fine gold leaf man, and Don does neon work.
The last time he spoke with Ron, he was living in southern California, in the LA area. If anyone reading this knows where Ron or his brother is, they can send me an email and I'll forward it to John... I think his email is jhleslie@yahoo.com, but I'm not sure!! He's SUCH a luddite!! And I don't write things down where I can find them later!!
Thanx.

Grundy,
You know.. the opposite of YOU!
A luddite eschews technology... you can read more about it at: http://www.bigeastern.com/ludd/nl_whats.htm

Luddite is a term that first described the followers of Ned Ludd, an English weaver who led attacks on textile mills, destroying the power looms that were replacing the craft of hand-weaving in the 18th century (not unlike how Gerber put a lot of hand-letterers out of work). Luddite became a general description of anyone who opposes, or refuses to accept or adjust to, new technology.

Ron is still in the LA area as far as I know. Give us a bit of time and we'll dig him up.

Ron is in Orange County at last report, I am at home today but I have the address at the shop and will try to remember to send it to you. He has been doing more oil paintings and wall work recently, not as much gold leaf. Bob is his brother who was in Long Beach for a while but moved back home to Kansas City some years ago. Tell John hi for me.
