Same to you, well we've just finished the day and our St.Pats celebration was thoroughly washed out. After the longest drought in ages the heavens opened, buckets of rain (2.5"), thunder and lightening all night and my family were camping out in tents. We had to cope with day-long outdoor markets and musical events and parades in the rain in wet clothes. But it was all great! guess we were given rain to remind us of Ireland

Erin Go Braugh! You gotta wonder about people that belive in Little men dressed in green and horses with a horn sticking out of its forehead. St.Patrick was not even Irish,he was English! By driving the snakes out of Ireland,he created a Rat infestation! Who wouldn't drink green beer over all that. Enjoy the day

Sorry Cam
We have had the quietest st patricks day on record since the country is on high alert watching out for the dreaded foot and mouth disease, we still haven't had a case in the republic but every large scale meeting is on hold. ------------------ 'To be born once is natural, To be born twice, now that's a miracle. ------------------------------------- From the sometimes sunny south of Ireland,

Belated Happy St.Patricks day to you too. Like Miles said its all been a bit subdued. While I was growing up the pubs never opened on St. Patricks day it was a holy day of obligation (early mass in Irish) and dry day. We always went to the parade in Dublin and stood on the corner of Cuffe Street and Aungier St. to watch it pass. Then we would either go home for corned beef and cabbage or go to visit our grandparents or other older relatives to show off our St.Patricks day badges and our green hair ribbons. I have a wonderful picture of St.Patrick driving out the serpents done by Jim Fitzpatrick. I would love to post it here but I don't know how to post pics yet.

Well, I had to hit up 4 restaurants last night before I found one serving Corned Beef & Cabbage, but persistence won out.
"Erin Go Bragh-less!" I say.
Friday at work one of the guys brought in an accordion and played Irish songs whilst the others danced a jig. Well, some of the dancing looked more like a drunken brawl, so he played a few polkas and the Mexican Hat Dance - and we all sang "O, Danny Boy" for Danny Rodriguez. (Wouldn't you know there's not an Irishman in the shop) But EVERYBODY wants to be Irish on St. Paddy's Day - except for those 3 berks in the first 3 restaurants. It's a good weekend, the rain has stopped, the sun is out and I'm not even hung over. Well, hardly...
