OK I can handle my printer going crazy and only wanting to print black I can handle my email being messed up and not delivering. I can't seem to handle my scanner shutting down the *^%$#@ computer everytime I try to scan. then the damn thing taking forever to restart. I can't seem to handle when I am finally able to scan...and it comes up a bitmap...I can usually clic one clic and revise the bitmap to polyarc...ready to cut. NOPE not today. SO......I design the whole logo from scratch thinking 'ok it took some time...but now at least I can cut it'. WRONG! SignLab or my Roland has decided that I need to have my design cutup and destroyed by many many lines. Is it just me?????? Is there a full moon?????? Or am I just being messed with???? ****. Pardon my french, but I have had enough. I am not a quitter. But this is getting ridiculous. I need to have this design cut....to apply on a van Monday. I need to print a copy of the logo for the printer to make business cards. I need to cut this #@*&@!+ design to put on a 4x8. So......what do you do?? when you are having a day like this??? Personally I think it is time for a margarita.

Ahhh Cheryl, sorry I missed your call. I know how sh*t happens, and it happens to all of us. Sometimes I think someone is testing us to see if we are the strong or just say I throw in the towel. I know puters can be frustrating, and especially when you're in the middle of a job. If you remember my story of my ladder truck as I was going to finish up a job, going 65 on the freeway, the whole damn motor blew up. Sh*t there went part of my winter money to having to rebuild my engine then to find out more things are wrong, and more money to pump out!!! Yikes so believe me I know how life can throw curves in ways you have to learn how to dodge or swoop to the side so you don't get hit. I now just look at it as "just another day in paradise" believe me someone has it much worst. Take a break get out of your house go visit someone in a hospital, you will feel much better after leaving. Maybe someone in your area can cut your vinyl for you, I know I could not be able to cut and ship by monday. A thousand pardons....Cisco

Talk to me Cheryl!!! All week my system was down and I could not export my picture from my camera to the computer. I took it into the local shop and told them about the problem and the need of the system to complete my work by today (Friday)
Well after $525.00 later (with a new Mother Board and Burner and vidio card installed) I got the system home and all my programs won't work includeing SignLab.. OK now on the phone with SignLab for 1 Hour I got that fixed and reconfigurated all the programs to be up and running...
Stayed up until 4 this morning to finish this logo with 4 colour over lays in Vinyl. Drank alot of Beer because this helps in (Hair lose with Stress!) Called the customer at noon to come over and was informed that they are to busy at the moment and may show up on the doorstep around 5-6 pm (Suppertime) So I am going to drink some more Beer as this helps (Hair Lose)and though the best thing I can do is knot a rope around the Computer and sell it as an Anchor here in the Halifax Harbour........LOL
This is true on my part and am love every minute of it!!! (NNNNOOOOTTTT!!!)

Cisco.....thanks for your calming words. But when everything goes wrong all at once...words don't help much. (except maybe a few choice swear words) But thanks cisco. Stephen sorry to hear about your problems. What is up with computers these days anyway?? I had my old 486 for 10 years and didn't have near the problems I have had with this one. Now when I try to open old files......they come up in signLab...but where the letters are supposed to be.....there are only squares. Well....I am off to get a margarita.

Yep, I'm having one of those days too. If someone offered me state employment today I'd probably take it.
Scanners creat bitmaps. I usually scan with the Imageing software that comes with windows and import into Signlab. Then I convert to vectors. You have quite a few options with SL so you pick one that will work for the complexity and resolution.

Oh man what a bummer. Its posts like this that make me say thank God I have a Mac. No freezes, scanner always works, printer always works, (unless I'm out of ink) plug & play on everything, $0 repairs. Uh oh... this isn't making you feel better is it.
Hope things turn around for you Cheryl. Good luck.

Cheryl, I have had the problem you referred to as the text not showing up, it is a setting in signlab made for what reason I don't know butits under view and it says show text outlines, if it is checked all you will see is boxes, just uncheck it.
I had to call tek support to find this one, I felt about 2 inches tall when they told me. Bill

Well I had a wunnerful day! Delivered some "decals" ($620), masked and sprayed 3 4'x4' panels, went back and picked 4 flies out of the paint, cleaned the gun, got out one of my 3 trusty brushes and touched up the "fly marks", cracked open a beer, watched a movie, then cracked open another couple of beers. I am currently relaxing from a "hard days work" by reading the BB and sipping a rum n coke.
Computer never screwed up, scanner either, but I never checked the cutter. Hmmm, maybe something is about to happen?
Anyway Cheryl..May tomorrow bring better luck...The luck of the Irish!

Well I defragged, de-plugged, de-installed, de-this and de-that. I had a horrible day. But you know what.....I got a call from Cisco from Fresno. Then came a call from Jim Upchurch in Olympia, then Brian in Redmond...Dave at Summa, and Judy In Georgia!!!!! I have to say I am proud and honored to be a Letterhead. Never before have I met so many caring helpful people from all over the US and Canada. Brenda called a few days ago from Canada. I can't thank you people enough. All I hope is that I in some small little way help you and make you feel very special as you have done for me. Thanks Bill and Judy for the helpful hint in SignLab. It worked! Now I just have to get my printer to work..........ah well tomorrow is another day. Good night!

When I have one of those days, my friend Rose always says to me, "It SUCKS to be you Stef, it just SUCKS to be YOU today!" and laughs at me in my hysteria... sometimes I lighten up and laugh with her.
But it's hard pulling out of that 900 mph spin cycle... it's like being a snowball on a hill. You get bigger and bigger and roll faster and faster until you hit a tree and BAM spontaneously combust or... if you are lucky, you roll into the river at the bottom and defuse on your way down stream.
Glad to hear you are landing back on shore... if tomorrow isn't better, shoot the computer. Get a suction cup toy gun and pop off a few at the monitor.... it feels SOOOO gooood!
Then play that song off the Practical Magic CD "Lime in the Coconut" (?), put on a silly hat, grab a blended drink and dance like nobody's watching.
If that doesn't work, there is always canibus interuptous, but that's not legal *every*where...
The dancing for you side of the Moon- cheers!

Hey Cheryl, If it means anything, my computer is just barely starting to work the way it's supposed to after nearly nine months of frustration, heartache, grief and misery. I'm sure there will be other times when it will crap out again. I feel like selling it and at other times I've been tempted to throw a rock at it. So hang in there, take a walk, clean the toilet or whatever makes your putter flutter, LOL! I'll keep you and your computer in prayer.

If it is any comfort, my Gerber Edge threw a print head after almost 5 years of faithfull service.
Shipped it to Gerber overnight for $222.00 They don't know they got it, or can't find it! I pretty much think I'm screwed! Its probably in Mexico waiting for a connecting flight to Austraila, then to Canada, over to Ireland and then back to Conneticut.
At this point, I hope its a cargo plane and something goes wrong and the pilots have to bail out and the plane goes down in the ocean and I can collect the insurance money! hahahahahahaha

Too bad I can't make any money with a fried drive....and frickin frag.

I feel your pain, Cheryl. I spent all of last weekend on a gold-leaf glass job, and when I cleaned off the excess gold, the back-up paint failed - two days work, about $100 in leaf, ruined. Apparently I had not cleaned the glass thoroughly enough (ask me if I'll make THAT mistake again!) Out came the razor blade - for the window, not my wrists - and this weekend I'm back at it again. At least I know what caused my disaster (I think). Yours is much worse because you don't know the cause or how to fix it.
It's St. Patrick's Day. I suggest medicating yourself with way too much Guinness and Jamesons.
