Yesterday, I visited a local digital imaging business, to see what they're up to. One thing that caught my eye were the floor graphics.

Just wondering if there's anyone here doing this sort of thing. And what about safety graphics?

I understand the 3M floor graphics are guarenteed for 6 months, sounds like repeat business from the right customer.

Any experience, ideas, warnings or advise...?

Cher.

Hi Cheryl,
I'm going to make some one of these days. I have all the stuff to make them, a 40" laminator and the skid resistant laminate, just havn't taken the time to try. I was curious about damage when peeling them back up. Hard tile or concrete would be ok but what about wood floors, painted floors, vinyl flooring, etc...

Tony:

Here's what a product flyer (3M Ink Jet Floor Graphics Kit 8566CP) says about surfaces:

"Floor surfaces including waxed vinyl, sealed concrete, marble, ceramic tile, sealed wood and terrazzo."

I also wonder how these graphics hold up to the midnight buffer...

Applications and Uses

  • Retail point-of-purchase
  • Special events
  • Product promotions
  • Industrial safety
  • Novelty messages
  • Welcome signs
  • Architectural enhancements
  • Directional signs

Cher.

Floor Graphics can be done on the edge, Although I have not done it yet, I would like to try it someday, I'm just not too keen on seeming 2 pieces together on a floor for liability reasons.

I'm not too sure on inkjet, but I would feel very comfortable selling thermal resin prints, with abrasion gaurd on them for floor minders. ( in reference to your buffer question )
