Where do you get your news? Newspapers, network news, CNN, NPR...?
My daily dose is NPR and the local paper (New London Day). I find Network news to be shallow and local TV news sensationalistic panic-mongers - "This just in - Typhoon Hits Phillipines! Will Your Town Be Next?" Like the line from Sting about politicians: "They all seem like game-show hosts to me..."
So, where do you get your "Guaranteed Fresh Disasters"?

Where can you not get the news? If there is a disaster, a half dozen channels will tell you, let alone a bunch of internet sites; Drudge Report, World Net Daily, News Max etc.
Commentary and analysis I leave to different sources, other than any state sponsored organ or television network.

The news for the day here is that all tv's no longer exist in my house. That goes for boom boxes and some cd's. It is quiet and it is all of a sudden very productive. Yes, I am relying on you guys and the maillady for all the info. I'll let you know when I am not accepting nonnews again. (ask me no questions, and I will tell you no lies!)

I think it's important to know what goes on in the world.. after all, everything that happens has an effect somewhere else. I generally read Slate.com.. usually avoid reading Horowitz tho.. I used to read the Sunday Salt Lake Tribune from cover to cover (except sports of course.. threw them away without even lookin')... Then the church decided to buy that paper so now there are NO unbiased papers in the state of Utah... and why should there be.. the church knows best. I also used to read Newsweek.. I liked it too, but I haven't had a subscription for 3 or 4 years.. and the magazine piles have finally disappeared..

newscaster: "THANK YOU FOR THAT REPORT, WE'LL GIVE YOU MORE DETAILS AS THEY BECOME AVAILABLE TO US, NOW BACK TO OUR REPORTER ON THE GROUND JOHN DOE, JOHN , TELL US, WHAT ARE WE LOOKING AT HERE?"
John: "WE ARE LOOKING AT A FIRE CAUSED BY THE EARTHQUAKE"
