This is certainly a strange request, but my beloved Schmidt Rubin rifles are VERY hard to find. If you have one of these beautiful old Swiss rifles and want to see it gone.........PLEASE email me. I'm looking for the 1911 or the K31. These are the kinds of things you find in Grandpa's attic. I restore them and belong to the Swiss Shooting Club. I would bet that there are at least one or two out there in our community.
AND DON'T HOLLER AT ME! I only shoot targets.

Pierre..All I have is a lil' ole 22 with a nice lil' ole scope that has killed many milkweeds and a TON of tin cans!
The reason I obtained it was to shoot skunks and coons that wandered onto the property during the daytime and acted kinda strange. Unfortunately for me and fortunately for them none have shown their cute little furry faces since then. Do the cute little critters know when they might get blown away?
I support the right to own a firearm. It ain't a "God given right" here in Canada but I think that anyone who is "responsible" should be able to own one. Mine is registered.
bang bang!!!!!

You're right, Dennis. I haven't sold any firearms in almost 10 years. I only buy. When I was selling Class III to law enforcement I had a lot of them change hands, but the climate has changed. Anyway............C'MON, you guys! All these posts and NO Schmidt Rubins?? I'll bet that Donna, Deb or Nettie has one. Or maybe Adrienne is holding them FOR them. C'mon, Drennie! Fess up!
Sorry...........Rosemary was just on the computer and her name came up. I didn't notice it. Oh, well...............Pierre

Hi Pierre. Just out of curiousity, why only Swiss Rifles? Are they somehow better made than the domestic variety found within the confines of the good 'ole USA ? Do Remington, Winchester et al not make anything comparable? I'm not trying to stir up anything, just looking for some insight into your other interest, and area ofr expertise.

SOLD, Adrienne! Ken, historically and factually, the Swiss have no peers making fine firearms. Their current AMT in .308 and Stg57 are acknowledged as the finest military rifles in the world, just VERY expensive. The older ones from 1880 until 1956 are the ones I seek. The Vetterli, the 1911 series and the k31. These, too, are the finest of the bolt actions, being true precision works of art. The Swiss have always had a reputation for design and machining. If you really want to see the true craft of the swiss, go to the website at www.swissrifles.com and look at these beautiful old rifles. I even have a couple of pages devoted to me there. A page on custom load development and a page on my custom scope mounts for the 1911s and k31s.
I have a collection of some 18 Swiss rifles, but I'm always looking for more.

Aside from making rifles, the Swiss aren't afraid to use them. One reason Switzerland has remained neutral, and un-invaded, for the past two centuries is that they are armed to the teeth, and let everyone know it.
This story may be apocryphal, perhaps Pierre knows for sure. At a diplomatic reception following the Austrian Anschluss in 1938, Hermann Goering made some comment to the Swiss ambassador about making Switzerland part of the Third Reich, saying, "We have thirty divisions ready for an invasion," to which the Swiss ambassador smiled and said, "Good. You'll need them."

Right on, Cam! Crime rate, as we know it, in Switzerland is virtually zero. Every household has state of the art rifles and pistols. If you guys want to hear an "inside" story about Randy Weaver, I have first hand experience with that jerk. He lived just down the road here and was a frequent visitor to our Recording Studio.

Pierre, "state of the art" is a bit of an underSTATEment...wouldn't you say? Most homes have select fire weapons and let's face it...nobody but a fool would risk an unlawful entry in Switzerland. It must be nice to live in a country where common sense is common .....

The "select fire" of which you speak are the Stg57 and the AMT. These are rifles with which each male Swiss trains in the service and takes home with him when he leaves the service. Every Swiss male MUST spend a specific amount of time in the service. The purpose of this is to make every Swiss a member of the society of a "Home Guard". The entire nation is armed. Ever hear of shootings in Swiss schools? Of course not. Does all of Switzerland dwell on, and have a love affair with firearms? Of course not. They see them as a necessary tool to be understood and used only when necessary. The Swiss children are brought up as mine were, with a full working knowledge of, and a healthy respect for firearms. So which of our countries follows the correct path where children are concerned?

In fact the age of service is 18-45, and applies to all able bodied males. Cam, your little story is true, and in fact that was one of many times the Germans made suggestions to attacking Switzerland. They were afraid of the Swiss defence but it was also convenient to have a neutral country next door that also had a world renowned banking industry with a reputation of not telling secrets.

A little inside story on Randy Weaver would be appreciated. He's become either a victimized hero or a wild-eyed racist a-hole, depending who you talk to.

Cam, Even if Randy Weaver was a racist a**hole, the FBI assumed the role of judge and jury and executed Vicky Weaver while holding a baby in her arms. No matter what you may think of Randy Weaver...The Federal Government acted in a tyrannical manner and had we had any other president and attorney general, some heads would have rolled. The U.S. Government was found guilty in the trial of Randy Weaver and Mr. Weaver was awarded 3 million dollars. Jerry Spence was the attorney in this case and there is information all over the internet if you want to read about it. The bottom line is that we do indeed live under an arrogant and tyrannical government.

Give me a little time and I'll put the story together for you. All of my info is from Weaver himself. BTW........He didn't get the money at all. Each of his 3 daughters got one million. Two of them still live next door down the road from us. My son is friends with Rachel. Give me a bit of time and I'll fill you in. You might be surprised.
