I got an email that my post about glue for sandblasting was answered not here, but on another board, signchat. Would someone please explain how that happened? I have never registered on the other board, but there is my post, word for word. Something is going on here Steve.

Apparently, this is somebody's idea of a joke. I tried to post a reply on the same post, didn't have the user name or password, typed in my email for them to send it to me, and it told me that it wasn't the correct email address. Looks like someone has decided to register me with the other board without me knowing. This is not funny.

I looked at his website. A wannabe that holds himself up as "Mr Universe" of the signworld. Lots of "sage" remarks and answers from him with little or no real content. His work is largely crappo stuff. I had to block his email after I got into it with him over Samazon. He's a class A jerk.

After I figured out how to post on their board, I then got totally flamed by a bunch of jerks. Man, it is so easy to say crap to people over the internet. Face to face would be another matter. I sent an email to the moderator of the board telling him to remove my name and info from their board. Boy, they sure do hate the guys from this board. Go read what they said to me. You'd think I had killed their dog or something.

I understand you being unnerved by this. If someone used my name to post elsewhere on the web than was of my own choice, I'd be quite ruffled also. They are calling it a favour. I call it a violation.
I'm quite disappointed with the moderator's reaction regarding the matter on that thread. My appreciation for Letterville is certainly renewed.

Sorry this had to happen to you John, the action on the Sign Chat board is slow at it's best. That post actually got some responses on it though. I check it out on occasion just to see what's going on and I have found that the only time any one post over "there" gets more than a couple responses is if it has something that involves this board! I just wonder how many of the posters there are also residents here under an assumed name??? At least Steve hasn't stooped so low as to let on-line casino's advertise on this site, now that is the icing on the cake as far as tackyness goes!!!

The response I got was totally uncalled for. I did not intend to become a member of their board, solely because I have made friends with alot of you here, and get what info I need on the bullboard. This guy Ray even said cross posting was not uncommon. Maybe not if I was the one to do it, but someone else did it with my name, etc. And don't even think that they would not be upset if one of us did the same thing to them. I emailed their moderator and told him to remove my info from his site, but haven't heard from him yet. I'm gonna be an adult about it, and stay away from their site, cause I know if I go read one more flaming post, I will lose it. By the way, the reason I found out my post was on there, was because whoever did it, must've checked the email box for replies. I got an email telling me my post had been answered. Old Paint, keep the motor running, I may be calling you! My thanks for everyones help and support on this also. They can only wish for a site such as this one, with talented and fine people such as yourselves.

We must be doing something great to get so much negative attention. At the end of the day, there is really nothing we can do to control or change what is said and done on other BBs. We do, however, have a choice on how we choose to react to this sort of crap.
Letterville is very different from other "sign industry" Forums.
1. All of us are required to have our real names and e-mail addresses on all our posts. In fact, anyone registering to post in Letterville, has their e-mail verified. It's very important that we all know who we are talking too.
2. Letterville has a goal and purpose. We exist to promote a group of people that choose to call themselves Letterheads and/or Pinheads. We like to get together in person and do things together at our live meets. We have a family thing going that is unique to Letterville.
3. Letterville was started by signmakers for other signmakers. It is not financed or controlled by suppliers that may have a different perspective on the sign industry than small signmakers. What is good for our suppliers and manufacturers is not always good for us.
So what do we do when others toss tomatoes and other garbage at us?
We can do exactly what they hope we will do and sink to their level, or we can renew our energy and do more of what they hate most. Let's all continue to be the class act that we have all built here in Letterville. together.

When I post a question I get answers... some funny, some factual, and sometimes I feel I get nothing. I was wrong about that "nothing" part though.
I can relate to your statement, "I never get any more than 2, maybe 3 tops, responses to any of my posts." and me being statistically minded... I did a quick search and found this:
Since October 29, 1999 you have posted to 28 subjects.
19 of them were just your responses to other peoples posts.
You started 8 different questions of which you got a range from 3 to 18 responses to each. Your median count was 8 responses.
The low end results came from questions like "O/T what does this mean?" or "Do the paint advertisers post here?". Both were questions that can be answered by doing the "search" yourself, but people here were nice enough to answer you anyway.
The high end results came from you asking people to share advice on what not to do when you open your shop, to how to paint a tank. You got lots of very detailed answers on those.
One post where someone else started a question and was getting answers, you asked 2 or 3 questions of your own to the original poster... and he and a few other guys chipped and answered your questions within his post.
Looks to me based on these rough statistics, via a quick search, that you are getting answers here and responses.
There were two statements that you had started a post on and got low responses on them. Statements are just that and do not require a response. However you got one nice response and 2 comments.
Do you see what I am doing here? I thought that "no one liked me here" and that I "wasn't worth responding to" here on the BB until I figured out I was asking questions that could be answered in one response OR I wasn't asking a question at all! It was me, and I feel it may be what many others may thinking too, but aren't stating it. They do answer your "questions" here and they do all like you... until you insult them.
If anyone out there is "feeling" the same thing, take a look at your numbers doing a search on your user name and then take a look at how you phrase your questions... if it really is a question. A lot of mine turned out to be just statements after all.
Yes I was bored and had some free time, but I also had something to share that I learned about this Board.

I don't think Steve meant anything by what he said Stefanie. The stuff that's been going on at the other board is more what he's referring to. It's more of an inside joke than anything. The other part about laughing is in reference to the "art" post yesterday. We were on chat last night cutting up and having fun. I'm the "troublemaker" he is referring to. A name given to me by some folks on the other board. All in fun from our side. My stomach is sore from laughing so hard last night. hahahaha. whew!

I read the posts on signchat. They sure are excited about thier # of hits increasing, due to this board. QUOTE "And my hit count went from 4,446 Sunday to 7,188 Monday and 7,227 today so far! as you can see by my copy and paste below so it's generating alot of interest especially from a few wacko's from the other board!" What a way to get attention, huh! The best thing we can do is stay in our own backyard, soon enough they will be gone.

Exactly Brad. I just went and deleted all my replies, so basically now it won't mean anything if anyone new reads it. Course, they'll probably type it right back in there. But, who really cares. Guess I got em a few hits though huh?

I waited too long! I had my reply cooked up in my head. But without your posts there, I'm not sure I could make much sense.
One thing I still can't get my head around, (maybe I'm just stupid). If the admin. checked the IP address, and he knows who it isn't, why will he not share who it is? What is he hiding? After all, someone used your name, and e-mail in a public forum. You were chastised for replying to this in that same public forum. If some do-gooder out there was really looking out for you, and wanted to do you a favor, why could he/she not do it through e-mail?
This is just a pattern with these folks, they say one thing then do another. When someone calls them on it, the "troublemaker" name gets thrown around.
They know that they can't survive without us, and doing every little dirty trick they can.
I just like to think of them as the "syphillis" board.....everytime you think it's gone, there it is to irritate the "S&*t" out of you!

Sorry about that coop. I thought by removing my replies, they could no longer get any use out of that post, and maybe those extra hits would go down. Anyway, I went there to find out who had done it, put up a reply asking that, and I wasn't rude about it, just upset, and then was called names and told to go away. Really says alot for the mentality of those that frequent that board doesn't it. I am sure though, that not everyone there is of the type like that of the few that came down on me. I have talked to a lawyer friend of mine about it, and he is checking into what could be done. IF the moderator does know the ip address of the person that did this, maybe the law can make him give it up. We will see.
