I will try to shorten the story....I just purchased Dreamweaver 4 to build web pages. I have built a few others with much less complicated tools, but I was willing to learn. I designed a first test page, which wasn't much, as I was pretty much in the dark.I previewed it in the browser and then downloaded it and viewed it on the net. Everything went fine. The page sucked, but it was just a trial to be replaced......Now, I rebuilt the site real nice and have for at least 50 working hours, not been able to view it in a browser or load usable files to a server. It seems that my page won't save, won't link photos, won't build a temp cache. I GET NOTHING....Many days later,I finally decide to bring the program home and download it on my home computer and try it here....WORKS FINE...I was able to build and save a test page of pretty fair quality in less that 20 minutes with links that work and everything.......What is the hell is wrong with my computer at work????? I have dowloaded the program at least 4 times.... Reloaded IE so as to have a fresh browser to view in. RENAMED,MOVED PATHS,STARTED OVER SEVERAL TIMES,TRIED DIFFERENT FORMATS. Again the computer doesn't seem to save my work or will build a cache to view it in. It seems to save all other programs work....The only resolve that I have, and it is a big one, is now I can build a web page with little problem with Dreamweaver, as I have tried everything at least twice and many a thousand times.... If anyone has read this boring post to this end, could you throw me a bone. I am just about to smash my best computer......Bronzeo

You might have a virus on your work computer. There are some nasty trojans and worm viruses going around these days. It's impossible to say what is wrong...but obviously it's not DreamWeaver. Good luck.

Another possibility is that your home computer has lots of plug-ins installed, such as Flash and Scockwave, which are from Macromedia, makers of Dreamweaver. Without these plug-ins installed in your browser software at work, Dreamweaver sites won't load. The likelihood that no fancy-smancy plug-ins are installed at your office increases when you reinstall your browser software, since many do not include all the latest plug-ins with the core browswer installation files.
A virus could also be the culprit, however it would affect your other programs as well. Is everything running a bit buggy?
My two-cents worth ... Rgds,

When you are building the pages, there is an option to select the location of a link, image or other file in some relation to the website, whether it's to the root directory, an absolute URL or relative to the current document.
If you do not select Relative to the Current Document, you will not be able to view the pages on your local machine. They will still work fine on your site, this is how I build mine.
You say it will not build a cache of your site. Doublecheck to make sure you specified a home page for this particular site. If you dont do this, Dreamweaver cannot build a cache NOR a Site Map because it wont know where to start looking for files.
These are a couple seemingly small things you may have overlooked on the work machine. I dont think you have any real problems since you said you had it working at work before.
