I think that heating will work for small radius' only. The extra material on the two sides of the edge cap will tend to bunch up.
I just did a sign with an arc at the top. We cut each side of the edge cap with a hacksaw perpendicular to the edge cap about every inch or less. This way, we could bend it to shape without it bunching up. Of course, if you look, you see the cuts on the finished sign but it's still a fast, easy frame.
